Musk will turn Twitter into a subscription based service if this ends up coming to fruition. You can have your free speech. But you gotta pay for it!!
Good.

Edit: reminder that Jesus was a bleeding heart liberal
You liberals are terrible at this. Jesus NEVER advocated for the government taking care of everyone by taxing the working citizens. That's the very basics of a "bleeding heart liberal".
Jesus taught about individuals helping out each other out of love, not out of government obligation. He taught about able bodied people working, and was against laziness. And he never ran around espousing those that change their sex, abort their babies, march for racism and violence, as heroes. That's today's bleeding heart liberal.
He was the opposite of a bleeding heart liberal.

I agree that it's not a slam dunk. The other issue you didn't raise is that the SEC already hates him and I suspect they will happily collude with the Board to try to interfere with getting this done.
That’s when Elon comes out in a giant mech suit and disintegrates the board and SEC with a plasma cannon

I'd be fine with that
We need him clear minded if he's going to fight Thanos

Don’t like it, make your own social media platform.

Maybe this is when they tell employees that Twitter is going for liberty instead of totalitarianism.

Left wingers after realizing that people other than them will be allowed to say what they want on Twitter......

Nice way to raise the value of his Twitter stake, while sending a nuclear shock wave thru Twitterdom.
The first salvo into taking Twitter private, and restructuring it. The major shareholders will have to take note, because the prospect of unloading Twitter stock, at what will surely be at a higher offer value, will be too tempting for some not to rake in on a massive return in investment.

Musk is the only person in the world with $42 billion in cash that would do this. So glad he exists.
Perhaps. But I also suspect he thinks there is profit to be made in the long term. By expansion of the base and finding revenues as it has evolved into the source of information for many, many eyes. So while I believe that he has been offended by their "rules", this step is probably also aligned with value creation. 42B company, he thinks he can grow it and eventually go public again. That Public Offering will be the metric as to whether the financial side was a loss or profit.

I've been reading a whole range of takes on it this morning. A lot of people saying Twitter board has a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders to accept this above market offer. That if they reject it, Musk dumps his 9% and shares tank, the board risks lawsuits from shareholders. Other takes say they'd be right to reject it because Twttr was at $72 a year ago that they'd be selling low In a suppressed market.

One of their largest shareholders is a Saudi Prince, who just rejected Elon's offer.
Saudi Prince = Good
Elon Musk and Donald Trump = Bad

Yeah people want an edit feature but not this much.
You really think that's the problem with Twitter? Not the censorship and selective enforcement of their own vague rules?

The Verge is already instructing people on how to deactivate their Twitter account.

There’s no questioning the benefits of Twitter. It’s a convenient way to get your memes, world news, and pop culture hot takes all in one place.
But being an active Twitter user requires sifting through a daily deluge of toxic characters, including QAnon, white supremacists, bots, deepfakes, and more (although you can’t find Donald Trump there anymore). Plus, there’s no denying the stress and anxiety that the fast pace of Twitter’s news cycle and the strain of constantly debating reply guys can bring.
Hear me out on this: you don’t actually have to use Twitter. I know it might seem like everyone else is using it, but you can be the change you want to see in the world. You can just delete your account.
