Which is why I don’t understand why they don’t just let younger kids on campuses everyday.
I sure as frick can’t keep my Kindergarteners attention for the time it’s going to take each day to do the virtual shite. She doesn’t take me seriously as A teacher.

Isn’t what “phase” you are on determined at the state level though? Some cities have chosen to be more restrictive due to being hot spots but a municipality can’t just say”we are going to ignore the state’s guidelines regarding phase level” and open up 100%.

Teachers unions are forcing their hand. Teacher’s unions only exist bc of teachers. Teachers should leave the union behind if they care about the kids

We did receive emails to this effect. I just wasn’t sure if this new announcement would change things.

I'm sure it will be fine for the big privates like Catholic High, PBS, etc....but the small catholic schools in smaller cities are shitting a brick on this...I know first hand. There is no way a lot of them could survive the lost revenue from tuition that will happen if they have to start this year online.
Which is why I'm guessing they will wait to the very end and announce some plan that involves opening the doors as frequently for every student as possible....I'm not sure what they do if restrictions go further at the state level.

I don't see how the wife and I can both work if a hybrid model or virtual model is deployed.

No government restrictions are. How exactly do you expect schools to operate like normal under jbe’s current restrictions?
Also before you think I’m white knighting teachers unions I’m going into year 3 of education without joining the union and don’t plan on doing so.

Do you have a source on this? In 2016 there were 487 car occupants who died in accidents. There are already 3200 Covid related deaths in 4 months. Even if you assume that COVID # is vastly inflated, it has still killed way more people than car accidents.

Depends on what kind of distance teaching is happening.
Socialization-wize, yeah. Not good.
With a dedicated parent and particularly selected materials And instruction from a teacher, I would think you could get a good grasp on kinder and first.
But, the child will pick up on other Life lessons learned from being home.

As it stands now I can definitely see it happening. What have you heard about what there plan is when they start to see 10, 20, or more positive tests? That will happen. I've asked my admin sources this question and they have not even discussed at all. They aren't planning on keeping any substitutes on retainer or anything like that as of yet. I told them that was foolish and if they do open up at 100% capacity with a plan like that they will be shut down again by September at the latest.
