For Kindergarten and 1st grade this will be two lost years. You can’t distance learn or do zoom in for kids that little. Being in the classroom is essential for them.

We fall right into this category.....smh

Also, two parent working homes are about to get royally F’d in the A.

Middle class America is about to get punched hard.

Obviously if there is an order/law kicked down from high above they will have to adhere.

But as it stands now, they will all start in person in August.

Kids should be placed in the smallest groups manageable because the biggest fear is quarantine.

Each school is different and each school will make independent plans for structure and quarantine.

But. It is widely know and accepted that the playing fields are leveled for distance learning. catholic schools will do whatever necessary to ensure they have a Leg up on the competition.

Expensive. I’m paying over 100 a day right now for a summer nanny.

If the teachers wanted it they would get it through calling their union or making their union put pressure on the school board and superintendent. You should think of all the minority kids not getting educated. I could go on and on but I don’t need to.

Teachers just want the paycheck. They are hiding behind the superintendent. I’m the “retarded” one though. Get real!

What a complete shitshow for working parents. Especially in EBR where they likely have far less parents with the ability to work form home via working office jobs.

How exactly are school supposed to operate full capacity under jbe’s current restrictions?

I’ll wait.

Also as a teacher I can promise you that’s 100% not true. I love teaching because I love being around my students. They piss me off a lot of days but I care about them. The last thing I’m in this for is the check. If I wanted money I’d actually put my meteorology degree to use and be miserable in the process.

Interesting. How will the hundreds of teachers with school age students work?

The point is no babysitters and a parent stays home and works. Not ideal for everyone

I'm amazed how many people think all teachers are in a union, and then which one in Louisiana there is 3 of them teachers can join plus multiple that are larger....

The same way it worked every year before that. Kids can sit 4-6 feet apart. Teachers probably should wear masks but idc.

You act like we can’t go on living normally. JBE is not a dictator so quit acting like he had almighty power. But if they truly cared for the kids, they make sure they would all be in school 5 days a week. Instead they treat the kids like pieces to their political game.

Teachers don’t care for the kids. This just goes to show it. Otherwise, the teachers and school counselors would be fighting harder for in school learning.

Teachers unions are forcing their hand. Teacher’s unions only exist bc of teachers. Teachers should leave the union behind if they care about the kids
A) I promise you there’s way less teachers in a union than you think.

B) You do realize your government is allowing restrictions that force the school boards hand right?

There will be a second stimulus and possibly talk of a third if people have to start quitting their jobs to watch their kids.
That stimulus check doesn’t even cover the mortgage, much less every other bill and putting food on the table.

The government can’t just keep printing money without it causing serious problems with inflation and the ability to budget in the future

I’m pretty shocked he thinks unions have enough pull to make the governor capitulate and open shite up.

Not only that, but teacher's aren’t a monolith in this state. I’ve got just as many conservative co-workers as I do liberal ones.

Most teachers want to be back because distance learning and accountability is a fricking nightmare (especially in a district like EBR).

I have heard they are toying with an exception for EBR teachers who have children in school, particularly elementary. If you are a school teacher your child will be allowed to attend 4 days a week.

A ridiculous exception in my opinion.

Best option is not to enroll your kids and homeschool them instead
