We need a rebellion. Open the fricking country back up and just deal with the consequences of the virus.

My brother is a patent attorney in Washington DC and has tutored everything from Honors classes, ACT, SAT prep and even MCAT and LSAT classes (he went to med school also).
He hasn't been able to do much patent law work for the past few months but he could stay busy tutoring for 12 hours a day.

JBE’s largest base of support has been from the public employee union sector, of which teachers are the largest single constituency. He gets to run their competition out of business and increase educational spending at the same time!!!

The best case scenario is kids going 2 days a week, regardless of grade level?
I can imagine in EBR, all of the students are going to want to either be at home learning or fighting to get into the new library downtown. These young scholars will not settle for just 2 days of traditional learning.
The good news is the new library never did collapse and is ready to open.

Man, what is wrong with you? The district doesn’t have the authority to do more than this while in phase 2. Also, why do you think classroom teachers have some sort of say on this?

Overreactive bullshite. Can't we decide at the beginning of August? Just have the teachers prepare for a normal year with a contingency in case.

So there’s no situation where students return full time immediately? Tons of parents of young kids about to get royally fricked by the school systems. The private schools will follow the EBR model

That’s messed up. Just paid tuition x 2 and my kids aren’t even going to the damn school. So now I have to pay for a babysitter also? Ridiculous.

We have started to panic again over this since the positive cases started climbing. I don’t see us getting to phase 3 anytime soon, and it’s basically impossible to start 5 day a week school if your still not at phase 3 due to the busing restrictions.
Why should we panic when we take a good look at the fatality rate of this crap?

Catholic schools are starting in the classroom in August.
Will have plans for quarantined kids, but plan to operate in person.
The gap between kids who’s parents made them keep learning and those who didn’t do anything will be super evident. Everyone should make sure their kid keeps learning.

Good luck finding a babysitter. They will be in high demand

If you want any sort of quality online learning, teachers are going to need more than just a couple of days of a heads up. I know most people here seem to think teachers don't do anything, but I gotta think the difference between in class and online assessment is big enough that "a contingency" would be way bigger of a deal than you're making it out to be.

The catholic schools are using this opportunity to “stand out” and will absolutely be back in person in August.
They are planning for no buses and will not follow what EBR does.

For Kindergarten and 1st grade this will be two lost years. You can’t distance learn or do zoom in for kids that little. Being in the classroom is essential for them.

You got sauces or is this just your theory?
Posted on 7/5/20 at 9:50 pm to Lickitty Split
Wait do you believe the teachers decided this?
Posted on 7/5/20 at 9:50 pm to Sir Drinksalot
Well that is awesome to hear.

People panic because the more cases there are the greater chance they will get the virus, and the virus does kill people. Most people realize they are not a beacon of health so they probably think their chances of survival are less than what it actually is; therefore, people panic due to fear of the unknown, that’s not hard to understand.
