quote:

It was Sept. 9, 2015 at the McDonald's in Central on Hooper Rd. Tracy Baker, who was a lieutenant with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, said he was going through the drive-thru when he claims several cars in the other drive-thru lane were moving forward, but not him.

"So I asked, 'Was there a problem?' and she said, 'No, we just busy,' and I said, 'Well, the other line doesn't seem to be busy'," said Baker.

Baker said he went up to the window where the manager gave him his food but he noticed an African American woman with a headset on behind her allegedly saying under the breath, "F---ing a--hole cop" and "Black lives matter too."

quote:

So he took to Facebook telling all his followers about what he said happened that day. There were over 700 likes and more than 1,300 shares to that particular post.

He said soon after, the owner of that McDonald's, Chris Valluzzo started calling asking to meet with him. Then, on Nov. 4th, Baker was served a letter from the sheriff's office saying because of "...your Sept. 20, 2015 Facebook post," he was being fired after 26 years with the sheriff's office.

I remember the deputy posting about this on the Central Raves and Rants Facebook group, a place for Central residents to congregate and bitch about petty politics. He immediately assembled an army of social media mouthbreathers to attack McDonalds and the Valluzzo clan on Facebook. It's served as a nice distraction from the usual NIMBY whining.

EDIT: I found the original post that the officer wrote about the incident.

quote:

To all law enforcement in the Central City, Louisiana area:
On 09/09/15, I drove through the Central location of McDonalds for breakfast and the line that I was in was moving very slowly. Cars in the other line were moving very fast . Approximately 9 cars in the other line that had arrived after me, placed their order and moved ahead. This was very frustrating.

After being in line for approximately 20 minutes, I finally got to the speaker to place my order. I was told, " Please hold." I replied, " Ok."

After five more cars from the other line proceeded ahead of me, I asked," Is there a problem with this line ?" The person replied," No we just kinda busy." I replied," Ok, I'll just move forward and place my order at the window."

I moved forward and placed my order at the window with a very nice lady. I pulled forward to the second window. The manager handed my order to me and asked if there was a problem. I explained the problem to her. While I was explaining , I saw a woman behind her with a head set on looking at me saying," fricking a-hole cop, black lives matter. "

I told the manager that the woman behind her should not be taking orders or handling people's food. After I told the manager this and what the woman just said, she told me that she would take care of it . I drove off; but, did not eat the food fearing it had been tainted.

The next day, the same woman was there and handed my food to me with a big smile. Again, I did not eat the food. I contacted the corp office of McDonalds and advised them of my complaint. A few days later, I was contacted by phone by the general manager of McDonalds. He said that he would take care of the problem.

About a week later, I went to McDonalds; and, again this person was serving food and taking orders. I had the general manager's phone number saved in my phone; so, I called to see if he was going to take care of this matter. He advised me that he did not see anything on camera, so there was nothing he could do. I advised him that I would post this on the internet for officer safety . He said that I was threatening him with slander. I advised him that this is for safety reasons; and, becauses it's true, it's not slander. He said he would let his boss know what I said.

To make this shorter , McDonalds has sided with the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement that is killing law eforcement all over this country. Be safe my brothers and sisters in law enforcement.
Sincerely,
Tracy Baker

I separated it into paragraphs because it was originally an uninterrupted wall of text.

Does this mean cops have a limit on their 1st amendment rights or did he do something else?

My instinct is to think he's full of shite too, or at the very least he misheard. I'm guessing he was aggravated at the service, wanted special treatment, McD employees gave zero fricks, so he made up a story that he knew would rile his Central-resident Facebook legion without questioning it for a second.

The dude was all over Facebook trying to get this kid fired for offending him. He was trying to hurt a business that is owned by a very powerful man in local politics, and he was trying to get other cops to go there and intimidate the kid.

Pretty stupid.

He's in a position where being impartial matters. Social media is used in the private sector frequently as grounds for dismissal. That's why you just shouldn't post controversial shite on the web. Hell, for that matter, just stay off the shite.

He could have handled it differently, but chose to go the route of calling widespread attention to himself.

Sounds about right.

Even if the kid said it, so what?

If a cop (or anyone) is that thin-skinned, he doesn't need to totin a gun, much less with a badge.

At-will employment is a bitch for dumb people. I am sure his union will sue on his behalf though.

Cops will just learn to only shake down mom n pop businesses and to leave the big boys alone.

I have a Valluzzo (not Chris) on my speed dial. Let me tell you how it works with them. If you have a problem they take care of it. So something about this doesn't make sense to me.

There is no Union for Deputies and the Sheriff is an elected official. Hence, doing shite like this (especially to a politically powerful business owner) is career suicide.

You don't really have the right to free speech when you are representing your employer. Especially if your employer is the taxpayers you're supposed to "protect". I am sure this would have been different if it was strictly personal but he used the power of his job and that's where he messed up.

A pig in my area spread some similar shite on social media recently about a McDonald's. Turned out he was full of shite (probably like this a-hole), but he was just suspended, I believe.

There is no Union for Deputies

I had no idea. I figured most police forces had some sort of union backing them unless it was a small podunk "village" type of situation like Pine Prairie and their GD speed trap where the deputy is the Chief's son and his wife answers the phone. Yes I am mad about my GD $300 speeding ticket.

Anyway...
