Good afternoon Griffin Parents,
I’d like to start this weekend with some exciting news.
We’re proud to share that Dutchtown High School has been recognized as the # 1 ranked non-selective, traditional high school in the state and #13 high school in Louisiana by U.S. News and & World Report!
This recognition is a reflection of the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, and families. We are proud of what our Griffins are accomplishing and even more excited about where we’re headed!
Each day we are trying to get better piece by piece.
Have a great weekend and I will be sending our weekly update this Sunday!

Who are the top 12, which are all selective?

BRMHS, Ben Franklin, Karr, Byrd, and who else?

They did quite well in national rankings.

#1,469 in National Rankings

There are roughly 27,000 to 27,500 high schools and secondary schools in the United States.

1,469/27,000 = 5%

Check my math, but doesn't that put them in the top 5%?

In the greater BR metro they're behind Baton Rouge High, U High, and Liberty (Lee) High. The list doesn't include any private schools.

That is a strong ranking for a non-selective traditional high school, even if the phrasing in the announcement caused a bit of debate over local standings compared to specialized academies.

Those are considered selective schools. Outside of the kids recruited for their football teams, there are no hood kids at those schools.

I was replying to the guy who asked who the Top 12 were that were selective. But I limited my list to BR area schools.

Dutchtown HS has been well regarded for decades. I have never set foot on the campus but I have heard its reputation for strong academics forever.

Good to see them get some recognition.
