I showed up for my first day of work as an underwear model, however I was uncomfortable with my clothes off in front of the female agent. She told me I wouldn't work out as a model, but she had another job offer for me if I was interested.

I use to work outside and occasionaly on barges. There were 3 of us and a new hire, first day in the yard working together. We were drawing some reference lines on a barge for some equipment that would be placed later. Anyway, we work till 9 take a break, come back and about 15 minutes after break the new hire just falls out on the barge from a heat stroke. That was his first and last day, he never came back. Sad part is it wasnt even hit that day, mid 80s and overcast. Dude muat have been a pussy.

First day on current job and a jackass decides to OD. Me and my new coworker spent about 15 minutes doing CPR.
My damn knees were shot for a week.
Jackass lived but never came back to work.

My 1st job was towards the end of my junior year of high school as a dishwasher at a pizza spot. My grandfather passed suddenly and I had to call and explain that I'd have to miss my 1st day of work. They were completely understanding but still recall being nervous during the phone call.
Almost 10 years later, I left a 'real' job for a little better one. My 1st day on the job was to fly to Newark with a layover in Atlanta. My seat from Atlanta to Newark was next to the person that would be helping to transition some work to me (but I didn't have any contact information). My flight to Atlanta was delayed about an hour and landed a few minutes after my connecting flight was supposed to depart. The gate was very close in the same terminal and I barely made it, but my luggage didn't. When we arrived in Newark around 10pm, we had to wait for the next flight about 90 minutes later to see if the luggage was there. It was and we finally got to the hotel after midnight. It was a sign of things to come for that company as I worked another 5+ years of continuing chaos.
Man, don't put two completely unrelated stories together and hint at some connection at the start of the second one. This post was lame but I read it thinking some decade long coincidental shite was about to go down.
shite.

I was in retail banking in the past. We hired a girl as a teller and sent her to a branch to observe on her first day. That branch happened to be robbed (with weapons) within the first hour of her first day of work.
Surprisingly she didn't quit.

Not first day on the job as I didn't hire this woman, but best job interview ever.
This woman wanted a seasonal job working in our catfish hatchery, well she was a white woman about 400 lbs, covered in tats, no teeth. I asked her why she wanted this job. Her answer was, in a raspy voice, "I need money to support my habits"

How about a SECOND day on the job story? One time the boss that hired me was fired on my second day on the job for using her company credit card to make personal purchases.

I have a buddy who manages a tire distributor's warehouse. A LOT Of loading and unloading truck loads of tires. One story he told me was of this big strong looking guy that came in his first day and as is the custom, the new guy starts on the shittiest job, inside the trailer "lacing" tires. Anyway he told me this guy was in the trailer about 15 minutes on a hot day doing work when all the sudden he came rushing out of the trailer threw up went to the restroom to clean up and was never seen again.

I was out of work (sport fishing boat captain) and applied for an oilfield supply boat job. I get hired but told them I had no idea how a 150' supply boat works. The assured me that it would be ok because I would be second captain and would be trained on the job.
Jump in a crew vehicle and was driven to Galveston from laffy.. We arrived at like two in the morning and the driver pointed to the boat I was supposed to drive. I get out of the van and the driver takes off at speed spinning his tires and disappears in a cloud of dust.
I walk up to the boat an all of the lights are off. I figure out how to get on the boat and walked around screaming hello. After about 5 minutes some kid comes out of a room and says you must be the new captain. I tell him that I'm the second captain and ask were the first captain is. He laughs and says I am the only captain on the boat and we need to leave in 1 hour. I ask him where we are going and he said he wasn't exactly sure because we have to meet a seismic boat that moves 100 miles a day, 100 miles offshore. I ask him to show me on the chart and he laughs and says there is no chart.
I have the kid show me how to start the boat and ask him how to turn on the bow and stern thrusters. He laughs and says they don't have that on this boat. Great, this is getting worse and worse and I'm scared shitless. So, I go to turn the wheel and it won't move. I didn't realize it was hydraulic, so the kid presses a button and I have steering. Ok, this is it, I gotta drive this thing now. Legs shaking, butthole tighter than it's ever been, I leave the dock. Well the arse end of a 150' boat doesn't quite move around like a 65' sport fisher and I hit the dock with the corner of the stern, but tires protected us. Ok, I'm off the dock in Galveston ship channel at night with heavy traffic and no chart, but I made it off the dock, but WTF an I doing out here? We head offshore and it's about 100 miles to the area the ship will be. I have a general idea of where it is and point the boat in that basic direction. 11 hours later, I see the ship dead over my bow. frick you, oilfield, I was thrown to the wolves!

At least she was honest, but for her sake, it would have been okay to lie out of necessity.
