Does Anyone Have Any "First Day on the Job" Stories?

This guy I went to lunch with was telling about this girl at his work, whose first day was Monday. When someone new starts, on their first day they take them around to each department to meet people, show them where everything is located, etc.
He said when the HR guy brought her to his department she was nice, introducing herself to everyone, asking questions, being engaged, etc. Evidently at some point she told the HR guy she had to go to the restroom. After a while he asked some woman to go in the bathroom to check on her. She wasn't there. He tried to call her and it went to voicemail. She just up and split.
Supposedly the HR dude called the police in case she got kidnapped or something. Later that day the police called him and told him she was never in danger and that she was okay.
He said she looked pretty good, just a regular looking woman. Sorry no pics.

When I was a supervisor at Dick's, I was showing this new hire the department and explaining his duties. He stops me like half way through the orientation and goes, "Bro don't bother, I'm quitting after this". He apparently got hired at another job earlier in the morning but still funny I thought.

CEO at a startup hires a guy for a newly created "Director" level position but the area of responsibility was vague.
On the newly minted director's first day, the CEO tells him to fire a popular departmental manager and assume all duties of the terminated employee. This would be his sole responsibilty for the new job

My last job, the HR gal was easily one of the best looking ladies I've ever seen in my life. Brunette, playboy style model. really unbelievable she was even working HR with looks like that. She was dating a high profile Houston athlete but she was still down to earth. Anyways, she was being nice and what I thought was filrting. She was shwoing me all around and then led me down the hallway. It looked like to a room at the end and with the lights off. At first I was like, I think it's about to happen. And yes it did happen. She said, here's your new office and turned on the lights for me.

First day at new job was Monday of the BR floods last year. I was only one there. 2nd day, HE lady showed to give me forms to fill out that had to be done within first three days of employment. Emailed files to insurance and IRS then she left, I stayed. Third day, people showed back up.

Our office manager retired seeing as she was getting up in age. We decided to replace her with three younger hires as that's the way the company has been trending and so far has worked out well. The first two hires were and continue to be great, however the third hire not so much. First day on the job, within the first hour, was slumped over her desk due to a near overdose of oxycotten.
Edit: This was after reference checking, initial drug test and background check. Chick said she was going through personal issues.

A large chemical company brought in all their newly hired engineers for a weekend at the company mansion. Lots of great food, booze, and socializing. There was also a pep talk from the CEO. One of the young guys had imbibed too much the night before and fell asleep. Twice. The CEO noticed and was pissed. He was fired before his first day on the job. Fortunately I wasn't the one who fell asleep.

My 1st job was towards the end of my junior year of high school as a dishwasher at a pizza spot. My grandfather passed suddenly and I had to call and explain that I'd have to miss my 1st day of work. They were completely understanding but still recall being nervous during the phone call.
Almost 10 years later, I left a 'real' job for a little better one. My 1st day on the job was to fly to Newark with a layover in Atlanta. My seat from Atlanta to Newark was next to the person that would be helping to transition some work to me (but I didn't have any contact information). My flight to Atlanta was delayed about an hour and landed a few minutes after my connecting flight was supposed to depart. The gate was very close in the same terminal and I barely made it, but my luggage didn't. When we arrived in Newark around 10pm, we had to wait for the next flight about 90 minutes later to see if the luggage was there. It was and we finally got to the hotel after midnight. It was a sign of things to come for that company as I worked another 5+ years of continuing chaos.
