Do you still see people wearing a mask in your area?
Saw probably 8 people wearing them at the airport when traveling yesterday (CHS --> ORD --> GRB). But to this day I still hold the belief of I don't give a shite if you want to wear a mask, just don't try and tell me I have to.

Occasionally, but being a product of a DOD High School in Tokyo, it doesn’t bother me at all. Saw lots of masks on trains and buses in Japan. You knew that person likely had a cold.

I see them around quite a bit. Criminals like them and so do ugly people.

They were everywhere when I lived in Thailand years ago. Traffic cops and old ladies seemed to think they were protective against smog. When I visited Portland recently you still see maybe 5 or 10% of people wearing them. I had one random cardiologist who wore them when in public including on airplanes.
Asia is different but I think in the United States it is more of a political identity issue sort of like having purple hair. Old people who are afraid of a serious respiratory infection are probably different and fall more into the category of being afraid of death.
They exist but are much less common than a couple years ago

The ones that I see have mostly lost their hair from chemo.

This morning a cat at the gym had not only a mask on (while exercising) but brought his own can of Lysol spray. Can't make this shite up.

Yes. And often outside, which is confusing.
I’ll chalk it up to allergy prevention.
I have a neighbor who has worn one whenever he is out mowing his yard...he was doing this, long before COVID. Allergies suck.

Saw a dude (white, mid-60s) wearing one in the Huntsville, AL Sam’s Club (the one right off 231 on the south part of town) just this past Saturday.
Sucks for people that have life threatening illnesses or severely compromised immune systems from chemo and disease that have to wear masks unrelated to COVID.
Everyone just thinks they're COVIDIANS.

I often wear a gaiter and sunglasses for my allergies while I mow, but man does it suck during Summer heat.

Oh boy, I just had a good one.
A lady of culture came on my jobsite to take pictures for insurance/bank documentation purposes, she was wearing a mask.
As we started walking around the jobsite, I decided to be friendly and ask if she had been sick or feeling under the weather, given the she was wearing a mask.. I got hit with "Uhhhh are you serious"... Told her yes ma'am. She comes back with "they still got covid out here, and they got the hantavirus out here getting people"
Less than 5 minutes into this walk in this hot muggy weather, mask came down covering her quadrouple chin, and never once came back up to cover her nose and mouth. The disposable mask looked about 4-5 months old too lol.

Fewer these days, but those who do have them on fall into one of the following:
- youngster with very baggy pants/shorts hanging mid-thigh while also wearing a hoodie with the drawstring pulled tight
- elderly working at a fast food or convenient store register covering their mouth only, or
- white liberal female with a combination of tats, hair colors, piercings while smelling like BO and regret
Damn, I need a new walking route.

Yes. Saw a man riding his bike masked up obviously making breathing way harder and hindering the fresh air

I see at least 6 times a day. But then again, Maryland is extremely diverse and people here are freaks. Lol

I see people a lot of the time still wearing masks.
Posted on 5/27/26 at 1:53 pm to UFFan
I still see people using them as chinstraps/neckwear -- like they haven't made the commitment in six years to place over mouth and nose.

Why the hell would you do the chinmask in 2026? In 2020, you had to do the chinmask if you didn't really want to wear a mask, but had to wear a mask in order to be allowed into any store. I myself usually did the chinmask in 2020 for that reason.
But what the hell is the point in 2026? You don't have to wear a mask to go anywhere anymore. If you really are a COVIDian and are still scared of COVID in 2026, then put the mask over your face. Otherwise, don't wear a mask at all.
