Here I was thinking brutalist was the absolute ugliest form of architecture....

His work is phenomenal.
Not only the vision but the execution of it. I've seen several in person and the EMP or whatever they call it now in Seattle and the Disney hall are magnificent.
You can't get a sense of how incredible the materials are and they way they are situated together from the pictures.
The construction is brilliant.

Noam Chomsky has an office in that second building.
It's not very impressive in person. It's kind of an eyesore right in the middle of what's otherwise a relatively ordinary college campus.

I’m sure he’s done some stuff that architectural nerds appreciate.

I don't have an objection to them in a vacuum, but I have a hard time conceiving a good place to put them, the last image on the riverfront being an exception. That actually fits well.

I am an architect and I hate it. This shite gets shoved down people's throats whem there are so many other really compelling starchitects. I like Adjaye (and his office).

I agree. I like the Pritzker Pavillion in Chicago, because it is suited for the use (amphitheater) and setting (in a park, with lots of art pieces). But in general, I’m not a big Gehry fan.

Yes I like his stuff. He is as much artist/sculpture as architect which is why his buildings don't seem to fit in. And actually, many of his buildings do use the proportional and rhythmic vocabulary from surrounding buildings and so do fit in to a degree. I have seen 20-30 of his buildings in person and always enjoy them. The main criticism of his buildings I have is they don't do a good job of integrating with the existing urban pedestrian environment where many of his buildings sit.

Frank Lloyd Wright is widely considered the greatest architect of the 20th century and by some the greatest of all time. Also, IMO, the Greene & Greene houses out in Southern California are some of the most beautiful craftsmanship and architecture ever created by man.
