We'll get land at some point. Hopefully my parents spend their money traveling. They deserve it.

Be careful what you wish for. Family ties go out the window when money is involved, and it doesn't even have to be very much money.

My wife and already know her pos half sister (who has absolutely nothing to do with the family) is foaming at the mouth already waiting from my MIL to pass away.

You boomers ruined the economy for us and some money when you die is the least you can do

Nope. Step parents are getting it all. They got usufruc, I got you's-a-fricked.

I'm in my Mom's will for a third of her company (I have two siblings, we each get 1/3), and who knows what kind of money but I have zero expectations of receiving it because the women on that side of the family routinely make it into their late 90's while the men tend to check out in their 50's and 60's. And I'm fine with that. I can make my own money but moms are irreplaceable.

She will sale day one
It's old family land

Told my folks to spend all but 3,000. Food has always been a central theme in my family (like most) and i will not feel like cooking. So enough to take my family and my brothers' families out. My parents worked too dang hard to not enjoy their efforts. My brothers and I are all right because of what they have already given us. Btw...told mom that, she then went opened a little savings account with a little extra because she wants a bag pipe player at her funeral

Not really, everything I have coming to me will go to taking care of my handicap sister.

It's not something I like thinking about
Posted on 3/7/19 at 1:35 pm to PortHudsonPlaya
Yes I do. My parents won't spend a dime they don't have to, and I have an aunt and uncle with no children. My brother, sister, and I are their only heirs. They told us we will each get a fourth of whatever they own with the rest going to an organization they volunteer with.

Parents don't want to mess with it, it has some old growth on it which I hunt.
I've suggested it many times but got shot down

i think most people understand that they will get a "little something" from their parents after they are gone.
other then well off people i dont know of anyone who "plans" for such money
my parents are very poor so between me and my siblings we stand to get around $25k each and whatever comes from selling their house which is likely going to be under $100k and that is to be split 4 ways.
i only know this because dad involved me in the funeral plans and after death financial details i need to take care of so i guess im whats called the caretaker of his finances.
i can see where some poors might see this as a future lotto type win to get $5-$10k inheritance to fix up their double wides or buy a new boat and i try not to judge but i do tend to agree with your premise its strange to hear someone talk like that because its almost as if they are waiting for their parents to die

My father made and saved a small fortune through the 70s and 80s and all they do now is travel. They are on a cruise or trip or something about 250 days every year.
I told my father a few years ago that he will be declared the winner if he bounces the last check he ever writes.
