That's too bad. You could make some money and put it towards buying out your sister when the time comes. Hopefully you can still do that.

Nope. My dad kept a roof over my head for as long as I needed. He’s done enough.

Man glad I’m not the children of any of y’all.

Yes will get a sizeable inheritance

And yes, I will then pass along a sizeable inheritance to my kids.

Our family takes care of its own.

None of us asked to be born, so if your parents or yourselves make kids why wouldn’t you want to provide for them, to the extent that’s possible, when you or your parents are gone?

I find it odd that so many of you and your parents share the opposite sentiment.

The world is a shitty place and with the way things are going with this government, I am at least making sure that my kids have houses paid for and a little land paid for when I’m gone.

-Now the government may eventually confiscate private property, but at least I will have tried.

I plan on leaving my children whatever I can. I’m in my early 30s and make decent money so I’m sure that’ll happen. But I also plan on enjoying retirement when that time comes.

My parents divorced. Sizeable inheritance from dad, nothing from mom.

I do but wouldn't have even known about it if my dad hadn't told me. Apparently, his pension states my sister and I get a specific amount each upon his death. He contributed to a state pension for over 35 years and that is one of the benefits.

He's relatively young and in good health so I'm not holding off making purchases waiting on him to die. I have a family of my own and I never even think about it.

Not expecting anything, but whatever we get will most likely end up in a trust for the kids/grandkids.

Fortunate enough to where all siblings and my family are doing well for themselves/ourselves.

There may be a little more coming but I’ve already received the bulk of my inheritance. What I’ve received isn’t life altering but it’s a nice chunk of change.

All of it came from relatives who scrimped and saved their entire lives in order to leave a legacy. I’m afraid to spend a dime of it for fear of retribution from the other side. Every bit of it is in the bank.

From the time I got my first savings account (2nd grade) my parents educated me about money and they were reinforced by my grandparents. Never waste money. Stop and make decisions after thinking about them.

All of them are now gone. Inheritances happened. I never spent the principle. The stock market and land values have increased.

I am far better off from having listened to the lessons they taught me.

Yes. I have told my parents that they should spend their money because, well, it’s theirs and they should enjoy it. However, they insist that they want to die knowing that we (my siblings and I) will inherit some money to make sure we’re all financially stable. I do not even factor any inheritance into my retirement plans, because you never know what can or will happen. The market could crash and wipe out a lot of their money, or the ultra-progressives could take control in Washington and see to it that all wealth and assets are government property when someone dies. Personally, I hope my parents live so damn long that they have to use all their money; i’d Much rather have them around than their money.

My parents may leave me a tiny bit depending on how much they have to spend for medical purposes. They haven’t really done a lot for their retirement, so I expect to spend some of my own money rather than get anything from them. No way I’ll be able to watch them go into a shite nursing home.

My wife’s parents are apparently leaving us a huge sum of money. Not sure how much but it could be over a million before taxes. It’s interesting seeing it from a 3rd party perspective. My eyes popped open when I first heard about it...not going to feign integrity here. My wife though was pissed. She’s always been critical of how frugal her parents are and how they never do anything to enjoy their retirement. Won’t surprise me if she wants to give it all away to charity if the day comes as I think it’s a sore point in her relationship with her parents.

My parents are in their mid to late 60s, but look like they are in their 50s, and act like they are in their 40s. They are very active, energetic, and as far as I can tell they seem to be in good health. I hope they have a lot of life left and hope the money that they have worked hard for, and saved, is spent on something they will enjoy or given to someone they see as good steward of those gifts. Either way, I hope they do something with their money that makes them happy

I expect nothing from my parents. It's their money and they should spend it as seen fit before they get to old to live life. As far as my kids go...I will leave them with zero cash. Hopefully I'll own a camp, house, city condo, and boat that my friends, my wife, my children, and their children can enjoy. If they want to sell any of this for cash it's their decision....there will be no liquidated funds. I will spend it all....wahahahahawwwaaahahahaha

I'm not really expecting much, but we have a little family land that I know I'll get part of. It's just enough for my son and I to kill a few deer off every year and I'll be happy with that.

My parents are divorced and almost 70, but I'm not involved in their finances enough to know if there'll be any cash to inherit. They do both have nice homes that are paid for, though.

I’d probably insist on keeping enough to send the kids to college and maybe some extra for our retirement, but we’re financially stable. No need to win a lottery that makes my wife upset for the rest of her life.
