Enough to take up the corner of the bar.

I have a group of about 5 dudes that we all grew up with each other. 3 of us still live within 30-45 mins of where we grew up and the others are in ATL or South Florida. We hang out a few times a year, mostly around holidays when the out of town guys come home. The guys who still live near me will go to a bar or play golf maybe once every couple of months or so.
All of us having families has definitely taken time away from our social gatherings and such, but they all have the same outlook as me: as much as I like you guys, the family comes first. We all consider each other close friends and if any of that group needed help with anything, I'd do whatever I could to help. I'm almost certain any of them would do the same for me as well.

I still keep in touch with 6 or 7 friends on a regular basis. There are a few people who will text me out of the blue to ask me about something and we exchange text for a little while and then that's it. There are a few people I don't really keep in touch with, but if I need something or vice versa, I know I can count on them... And vice versa.
The group of friends I keep up with on a regular basis, I actually consider them more like family than my family.

A group of about 10 of us have Breakfast together once a week (usually about 6-8 actually show each week due to work & home constraints).
I could call any of them to drive 5 hours and bail me out of jail, no questions asked. Fortunately I haven't had to do so (yet).
I've got another 10 that I probably could also call that would do that for me but I don't see them as often.
One of them could send a jet for me, which is nice.

I don't have many friends left. Most have passed away or moved 100s of miles away. One good friend I see about 4 or 5 times a year. Other than that, just my brother-in-law which I see about once a month.

That's similar to me, about six very close friends that I would do anything for and always try to speak or get together with them as often as possible. Even if the times become a little further apart as we get older.
We're all in the same fantasy football league and usually are able to get away for that weekend to catch up and fish, golf, swim, draft our teams, BBQ, etc.
I have about 10-20 other friends that I catch up with a little less often but also appreciate that we have things in common.

I don’t have the time or energy for that.
This right here.

I have 3 true friends and a few very good acquaintances.
I also have 2 brothers and a cousin that I consider myself to be good friends with.

2 true friends. I know a lot of people, but most avoid me.

I have always just had a small group of close friends and family who I spend most of my time with when I feel like being social. Balancing a bunch of friends seems stressful. I also just tend to be overly guarded with people I meet and don't let people in or really know how to make new friends. Even with people who I meet in various hobbies or volunteer work that I have done it's rarely gone past just those activities. It's probably mostly to my detriment.

I have over 11,000 posts on here. That should answer your question.

Not really. I have friends I grew up with but we dont talk much anymore. Maybe a couple times a year.
Lots of things have happened. One of my sons passed away and a lot of folks I used to be friendly with quit calling and reaching out and treated me differently. They say hard times show who your true friends are and I found out I dont have any. I'm not mad people get uncomfortable and bail during hard times.
I work by myself, so no real work friends. Just customers and contacts.
It's all good thou, my wife really is my best friend. I have a younger son and we are very tight. I have what I need and my family is blessed.
