At this point, I am so old, I would love for someone to take interest in my hose.

I had someone do that with my power one time. Came home to find extension cords running to the new construction. Then the contractor tried to talk me into letting them just use my power for $5 a month.

When My next door neighbor's house was built, I caught almost every tradesman using my hose for something. It is just something that they do.

When my neighbor goes on vacation, I hook his hose to the sprinklers and get my lawn in top-notch shape. Everything has a way of working out.

Becomes a habit? Yes, I would put a stop to it.

I would only be mad if they did not ask. My neighbor has borrowed my side hose a few times because he lacked a faucet nearby but always replaces it neatly.

No. Some of my fondest memories are of waking up because someone was using my hose without asking.

As a contractor that does a lot of sidewalk projects around cities, I ALWAYS ask before I use someone's water to even fill up a bucket. As a professional, you don't want someone coming home to find you stealing anything from their property and that includes water or even shade. I had an employee walk up on a guy's porch and lay on his bench at lunch and I told him he had about 3 seconds to get off his porch before I fired him. He bitched and moaned that the guy told him he could sit there but I really don't give a shite, it looks bad.

Occasionally? No.

Trying to fill their new swimming pool? I may have a problem.

Lived in a duplex right out of school. I could tell the weirdo in the next duplex (didn’t have an outdoor spigot) had been taking the hose and using it, not even bothering to wrap it back up (no fence between the two units).

I removed the hose, thinking the douchebag would take the hint. Heard the water running one day, walked on the backdoor, and saw that he hooked up his own hose and washing his car.

I turned off the hose water and unscrewed his hose. He walked up and irritably asked what did I think I was doing. This turd, who looked like a younger methhead version of doc brown, was surprised when I went off on him for using my shite without permission. He condescendingly responded that he would pay for the water... I told him to shut the frick up and stay out of my yard. Didn’t interact with him ever again, moved out to my own house after six months.

ETA: The nut also had a small chain link fence cage for his cat. That he said had AIDS. What the frick.

Had the same happen to me. The first time it’s just gets unplugged. The second time I got a new 300’ cord. If they would have just asked I probably would have let them.

That shite don't float.
You don't just walk up on someone's property and make yourself at home.

Guy I know said one time he left work early and got home to find his shifty neighbor was watering his front and back yards with hoses tapped into my buddies faucets. Buddy called the cops and two days later the neighbor was gone. Completely moved out. My buddy thinks he may have been a criminal in the witness relocation program.

Your wife comes over to my house to use my hose all the time.

Something about yours being too short.
