No.
For a quick sandwich lunch on the weekends or a kids party? Sure.
But for dinner? Nope.

Nothing but the best for the Hangover family...
Non disposable paper plates... We actually used these when our kids were young after too many plates were getting knocked on the floor..

I prefer dish plates vs paper. But it's just me and my wife. If young kids and routines in the morning, I'd resort to paper. So I think it depends on your situation. I do hate those cheap stiff paper napkins. I just grab a small kitchen cloth towel and throw it over my shoulder...lol

Who wants to eat scrambled eggs and bacon off of paper? Don't give them the out to avoid putting three salad plates in the dishwasher for breakfast.
In a full family household, it's quite easy to run the dishwasher every day. And if you're single, it doesn't need to be *full,* you can run it half full twice a week. Ironic how the enviro-pussies that convinced everyone you can't run an appliance unless it's full just became one of the excuses for many of you to use styrofoam, plastic, and plastic coated paper plates. Y'all save old margarine tubs to put leftovers in, too?

YES
And Bowls
I work from home and try to eat right so I cook lunch daily, eat toss paper plate / bowl in the trash, back to work.
It's convenient and low maintenance

We use real plates for everything. We hardly ever get takeout so I'm washing pots and pans anyway. Rinsing off the dishes and running the dishwasher isn't that much more work.

Depends what and when we’re eating.
Same. We use real dishes 99% of the time, but sandwiches get paper plates. No idea the logic behind that, but it's what my parents did so what we do.
I also every so often use them to hold things I'm prepping, such as large amounts of onions/carrots/etc. My cutting block is huge, so I usually don't need them, but something about dirtying bowls/plates just to hold a raw onion before I cook with it bothers my brain.

The amount of people with nasty arse old sponges is much higher than the people I'd deem "trashy" with paper plates. Blows my mind people don't boil and/or throw their sponges in the dishwasher if they don't replace in a regular basis. It's disgusting.
This actually just reminded me. I DO use paper plates regularly..
.. at my workplace.
Talk about being mind blown that people live like slobs. I actually have my own bottle of Dawn and own dish brush in my personal office for the rare occasions I have no choice but to use one of the office dishes.

Threads like this are what the OT was made for.
I've got to say the results of the thread really surprise me. We have paper plates in the house, but use ceramic far more often. My kids know how to rinse a plate and load/unload the dishwasher. We run it about twice a week.
For everyone talking about time saved, consider that it takes 30 seconds to rinse a dish, but 5-10 minutes to take out the trash (pull the bag, tie it up, replace the bag, find shoes, bring to outside can, etc) and with all those paper plates/silverware, you people must take the trash out at least daily, if not more. How much time are you REALLY saving?

This matters here. I get people using them for kids to save time. That being said, I wouldn't want my kids to take this on as a habit in their lives.

I agree. We only use English fine china for every meal.

No it isn't... water is ultimately recycled, wasting paper and sending it to a land fill is much worse for the environment.
I know people who make this argument... where did this start?

You do not have to wait for a full dishwasher to run it. It doesn't use the amount of water or energy that people seem to think it does.
A paper plate here and there for easy/quick things is one thing, but foam cups and plastic utensils seems like overkill for anything that's not a party. Especially when you own a washer that can wash it for you.

It saves a ton of dishwasher stuff and using the dishwasher.
Dishwashing detergent is like $10 for name brand in a huge bottle that lasts a long time. There's no way you're saving money when you're restocking every 2-3 months your foam cups, paper plates, plastic bowls, and plastic utensils.

Paper plates are trashy unless it’s something quick (e.g. sandwich) with absolutely no company over.

If you pickup takeaway from outback or longhorn do you take it out of the plastic tray and plate it too? Why not, lazy arse? How about pouring all your cans and bottles into a glass?
I know you're trying to make a point, but yeah I typically do plate takeout. If I have a beer/coke/sprite, I typically pour it into a glass.
I'm with you, old bean.

When I was single, I didn't bother w/ paper plates.
Just ate my bagel off the paper towel; hated eating anything anyway...
