It's the over-indulgence that's considered a sin (that goes for anything).

Drinking is not a sin, never has been, and even baptists and presbyterians who know their God know this to be true.

Why do some of them seriously argue that the references to wine in the bible are really just about grape juice - which they use at their communion instead?

If there was a hell, do you think a person that drinks would receive the same punishment as someone like Hitler.

Why frick no.

Now go spend 3 days in the belly of a whale and rethink your thread.

Lol, no.

Anyone who says it is a sin better not ever attend a wedding where Jesus is a guest.

An omnipotent being gives you this vessel, and you do that to it?

Gluttony is by far the most widespread sin that people are oblvious too.

I don't really believe in God at the moment, but just don't understand people who do, and live the way they live.

Honestly I dont see drinking alcohol is a sin. Drinking withe sole intention of becoming drunk is a sin. It is the over indulgence associated with alcohol that makes seem "bad" in the eyes of the public.

It all about your intentions as another poster claimed.

Weed and other drugs that can be smoked or injected fall under the same category. Most of these have some medicinal usage or commercial viability to make common items (toothpaste, paint, lotions, etc.) However people use them with the intent on becoming high or to "get thier fix".

No. I am not a brainwashed Baptist that ignores the many many cases where Jesus drank wine.

This thread is quickly getting off on a tangent, let's stay focused on the sin at hand and not co-sins.

Drinking? No.

Drunkeness? Yes, if you ascribe to what is stated in the bible.

(Ephesians 5:6) "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."

There are many other similar verses.

However, Paul specifically recommends "drinking" to Timothy:

(1 Timothy 5:23) "Stop drinking only water and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illness."

Likely meaning is lost at sea. Cetus constellation was known as the great fish constellation and was viewed on the horizon of the Mediterranean Sea.

And no, the act of drinking is not a sin. Once you are drunk you do stupid stuff that likely is a sin; therefore, don't get drunk as it will lead to sin.
