It may be a sin and, if it is, well I'll already know a lot of people when I get there. The druken sloots will be a nice perk as well.

No.

I'm not into it but I don't see an issue unless you go overboard.

I think it goes back to "drink but don't get drunk"

In the sense of, don't let alcohol become something that turns into a problem and addiction.

Jesus turned water into wine. Most evangelicals don't read the New Testament though.

Somewhat interestingly, whether a person considers it a sin or not does not settle the question as to whether it is a sin. It is not because God did not say that it is a sin.

All mention of alcohol in the bible amounts to the following principles:

1. Don't be a dick with your drinking. i.e., Don't lead one into temptation. If someone doesn't drink, don't try to make them. If they have problems with alcoholism, don't drink around them, etc.

2. Don't drink when the lives of people hang in the balance. If you're a judge, and on the job, etc.

3. Don't drink to excess. The bible is all about moderation. Excess is a sin. You can drink, don't be a drunk. You can eat, don't be a glutton. You can rest, don't be a sloth.

grew up in my home with an alcoholic and I simply wonder why anyone would want to do that to themselves--

From the Biblical viewpoint- drunkenness is a sin.

I've had people tell me "Jesus drank grape juice, not wine."

I always say, "You know what happens when grapes with no preservatives are not refrigerated, right?" They ferment and turn into freaking wine. I don't recall the use of refrigerators back in those days.
