Do women really sleep their way to the top?

I've heard this expression all my life, but honestly, I have never encountered to a woman who used sex for career advancement.
(I would be happy to help the right woman advance in her career.)

Some do.
A lot of times it's a phrase used by pansy men who got passed up by a woman.

Gotta be true in the entertainment industry (actresses, musicians, TV news reporters, etc.)

Possibly the saddest thread I've ever seen.

I’ve never worked anywhere where I’ve suspected women of sleeping with guys to get promotions, but the stereotype probably exists for a reason.

I’ve not seen one sleep their way to the top
But I have seen one sleep their way to a cosy do nothing job for good pay.
The type of job where the top dog “needs people like her” but nobody has a fricking clue what the do.

Saw it a few times in the Marines. Females would sleep with their direct superiors, which would lead to better reviews.
Never saw it anywhere else. Although I did have a meeting today with a rep from an industrial supply company who was an absolute smokeshow. I'm sure she gets plenty of orders from lonely, desperate baws in the area.

No but they are promised to get to the top if they get on the bottom.

I know of several situations where it is true.

Well they'd have to be pretty f**king stupid to sleep their way to the bottom.
Line stolen from Jane Seymour's character in "Head Office".

Not based on my experience. They may sleep their way to promotions, but to be at the top you have to perform like a big dog.

Some have.
Most just try and end up sleeping their way to the middle. Like the woman from LA SecState who fricked the SecState for promotions then claimed he got too clingy.

You are either oblivious or not at the top of your profession. They don’t necessarily sleep their way to the top, but sleep their way through below average performance, lots of missed time off of work and maintaining their jobs.I see it on a weekly basis. It’s not just women, though. I am 1/2 wishing to be at the top and 1/2 glad I am not there to have to deal with all of that bullshite drama.

Try the securities industry on Wall Street.

I don’t know about the top but I do know some women that slept their way to the middle and slept with people for a job (to get hired).
Some women do it, some refuse to go there.

I'll put it this way.
Generally speaking:
1. The most successful Medical/Pharm Sales managers are hot women.
2. The most successful Industrial/Tech Sales managers are hot women.
3. Inside the gates of CCL, the wives are hotter than outside the gates.
The common denominator is hot women get what they want. They don't have to actually sleep with anyone.

I know someone that just got hired by a company to replace the ex-stripper girlfriend of the married owner because the stripper couldn't do the work....I was shocked to hear it.

It's expected and at a prominent firm (the smartest guys in the room) pretty much encouraged.

I heard of an issue where two managing directors got fired for sleeping with the same chick. Don’t know how that affected her job reviews.
One place I used to work, it seemed like most of management was women and not the sort of women who would have much success trying to sleep to the top. For the most part, they were all great managers.
