On a more specific level I certainly think post-Bolt sprinting is taking a completely understandable and predictable enthusiasm hit.

Does USA have any Trans athletes in the Olympic Games?

Definitely.

Biles was supposed to be the superstar (and she still is), but obviously some people are still upset about 2021.

But there is no Phelps or Bolt.

Noah Lyles could become a superstar if he gets the 100/200 double. Sha'Carri has a chance to become more of a star as well. Would be a nice redemption arc.

Sydney Mclaughlin should be a superstar already, but she is about to blow up more, I think.

Nah, can't run in heels all that well.
But they're carrying the torch.

I don't care about who can swim the fastest or pole vault the highest. I care about QBR and YAC. Olympics are lame.

I think soccer started yesterday. Idc either way.

I’ll turn on swimming or track if I’m bored but that’s only bc there’s no other sports on. Worst time of year.

He might break the 1500m record though.

There is a lot of intrigue in track this year if you even casually follow track.

The "problem" with the Olympics outside of being far from its amateur origins is we live in a world with unlimited sports now both live and replay. Even if a very obscure sport isn't on one of seemingly a million TV "channels" you can follow it on numerous YT channels. In the days of 3/4/5 OTA channels basically nobody in the US would have known who Ingebrigtsen or Kipchoge were until their events started to air.

I still love the Olympics and it gives me a chance to pull for the USA.

When the Olympics were at its most popular, it was made up of amateurs who BECAME stars during the games.

It's hard to get excited about a bunch of professionals that you've seen a hundred times.

Remember when there used to be an Olympics board?

I wouldn't even know they were happening if not for the migrant rapes

Barely any olympics coverage.

It's lost its luster a little recently, but the opening ceremony isn't until tomorrow, I believe. So I would think the coverage will ramp up significantly then.

Olympics are Fri, Jul 26, 2024 – Sun, Aug 11, 2024 from what I see

The Olympics went woke and NBC coverage sucks. If Bob Costas returns I'll shoot myself. Or just not watch it. Yeah, that's what'll do.

Athletes have always had political opinions. Now they share them.

Speaking to France 3 Provence-Alpes, Doll said carrying the torch would demonstrate drag queens are finally accepted in France, despite criticism from conservatives.

“It’s a consecration for a drag queen,” he said. “It shows that we’re accepted by our beautiful country. The flame passes from hand to hand, with no concern for sexual orientation or profession.”

"Conservatives have no choice but to accept people who are more colorful and more diverse."

Worried about Conservatives? I’m pretty sure the middle eastern immigrants in France would have a bigger issue with it

They did a horrible job marketing it. I saw some stuff on TV and didn't even realize the Olympics had started.

I know you’re trolling with this but you’re not wrong. When swimming and women gymnastics are going on, I feel like NBC shows nothing else.
