Really retarded post. That dollar increase creates a ripple effect across the country. I’m not going to explain what a 5 second google search could easily describe.

Can some of you not actually read?

From the OP-

quote:

Obviously rising fuel prices drives everything else up, but I'm speaking more to those focused on what they're paying at the pump

I'm talking about the people complaining that they had to spend $20 more, filling their car up.

Maybe not, this ad has had me secretly wanting a '99 Corolla for the last 8 years:

In the end, I hate boring cars, but they have their place.

I like having a commuter car that's a little older, but in really nice condition. Up until about 2 years ago, I had a nice 97 Camry that I drove all over the place. I had to get a new radiator for it, it was like $30. Insurance was like $20 a month.

I just tried to buy a MINT 2001 Camry but the guy ultimately wanted about $1k more than I wanted to give.

This is the WW2 sacrifice of are generation. Even though we obliterated Iran’s nuclear program last year we need to go back and make sure the job is done.

Nah, just be like Sidewalk Tiger who knows everything and is an "OT Baller". I fill up 5-6 times per month. Most people lie about their financial situation anyway. If I didn't know any better, 95% would be millionaires with 5+ vehicles, and a paid-off 8,500 Sq foot mansion on a golf course. The reality is more people on OT live paycheck-to-paycheck than you think.

The average American is stupid with their money. I talked a guy who goes through a carton of cigarettes a week and puts down a minimum of 12 beers a night tell me with a straight face that he can't afford health insurance then the next week shows up with new rims on his truck that he can't afford ,but is paying 20% interest. People don't want to live according to their income and tend to make stupid and emotional decisions. Sadly, that is the norm.

Yup. I know a guy that lives paycheck-to-paycheck, making 280K/yr. But he's awful with his money. I do not live paycheck-to-paycheck, and I make significantly less. I just live within my means, and I do not need all the fancy stuff. I do eat out quite a bit, but that's it. Even on vacations, I am fairly frugal, while I can still enjoy things (TBF, I really do not care about the finer things in life, like box seats at a game, high-end hotels, first-class etc, but I do enjoy giving others the experience, but for me, I could not care less).

I didn't judge anyone for it, and in fact said I understand in the post you quoted. I only gave my personal view. I'm sorry my lack of attention to gas prices has upset you. I'll try and pay more attention as recognition of your hurt feelings.

I don't understand how folks spend hundreds of dollars a month on random luxuries, but freak out when gas eats an extra $50.

It seems irrational.

I am lucky that I live near work and don't fill up but a couple of times a month. However, many people fill up weekly and if they go somewhere extra on the weekend, more often than that. I drive a 2018 Toyota Rav 4. It's a decent car. At the end of January, it was around 2.50 per gallon and now it's 3.70 at HEB in the Houston suburbs, probably some of the better pricing in the country. That's about $15 per tank for a pretty reasonable car. If someone fills up weekly, that's $780 per year. Go on vacation or do some extra trips somewhere, like travel team Braxton is playing ball in Austin, etc. and you are easily paying $1000 per year more on gas. Drive a Tahoe and it's a lot more than that (of course, that's what Braxton's family drives.)

$1000 + per year is absorbable into many family's spending, but that's $1000 per year for less of so many luxury type items they are used to. Can they give things up? Of course...but why would you want to? It's also probably $2000+ per year when you look at how much the cost of gas factors into every other price we pay for things.

I bet most people's gas bill has gone up more than $50 per month since January.

I'm not complaining nor defending anyone.

And if you were to go check the PT board, you'd see EVERYONE is blaming Trump for the current gas prices.

You want to try again?

From what I can gather in this thread anybody that complains about gas is a Trump hater and has no right to criticize him because they're throwing away money on cars and shite
