I have female friends that I care about, but I don't hang out with them one on one. Just last week I talked to a good female friend of mine for a good while, but we were in a group setting.

I think it depends on the dude. Plenty of dudes out there who have always had female friends (and aren’t trying to sleep with them). Also plenty of dudes who aren’t really the type to be friends with women.

I’ve had this same exact discussion before. And women always seem to get mad at my honest answer when I tell them that if a man has a female friend, it’s because deep down he wants to be more than friends.
I’m guessing it’s because the women don’t want to imagine or admit that their male friends actually want to frick them.

But it is nearly impossible for a man to want to be an actual friend where you talk on the phone or text all the time and hang out without wanting something more. I’m telling you, it’s virtually impossible.
Friendly acquaintances in a group setting - sure. Actual platonic friends? No way.

I'm not hanging out with any woman unless I'm planning on banging her. It's really that simple. They are otherwise
detestable · loathsome · despicable · abominable · repulsive · revolting · disgusting · distasteful · horrible · horrid · awful · heinous · reprehensible · obnoxious · odious · nauseating · offensive · contemptible.

I'll amend a bit. When I moved to dallas I only had 1 real established Miami friend who had moved. It is chick that is attractive but isn't my style at all.
She has a group of 8 or so extremely attractive women who kind of "took me in". Of course I want to sleep with them all, but if I did I would kind of lose 90% of the people I like in Dallas

I have been divorced for about 5 years. I have many platonic female friends I have met after the divorce. Mostly women I thought about dating but realized there are too many landmines in their lives to date (which I am beginning to realize is every single woman in the world) but I found their friendship good.
At this point in life I go into everything thinking platonic, I just have kind of lost the interest in dating romantically for what ever reason.

I have a couple really good female friends. They actually give me honest insight on how the other side thinks. It's more than possible, but some guys/girls have more issues than others with doing it.

Well, if you think about it...for every platonic male friend your wife has, there's a guy that has a platonic female friend.....or so you hope. Not really a big deal though. For every woman you've ever been with there's plenty of dudes that want to bang her and would take the chance of given. That's why it's important not to date and marry a whore. That way you know her friends are platonic relationships regardless of what the dudes intentions are.

If we like a woman enough to hang out with her for no reason, it means we want to have sex and/or a romantic relationship with her. We're pretty simple creatures.
Nailed it. I always laugh at the women on bumble and such that are "looking for friends." No dudes are trolling bumble for friends. The men on the dating apps are looking for sex or a romantic relationships. The naivete of these women is hilarious.

Just because you aren’t this guy doesn’t mean there aren’t guys out there like this.
She’s correct. It just depends on the guy. Obviously there are guys out there that just hate women and want nothing but sex from them, many have voiced that here. Some men are good being friends in social settings and some actually appreciate having a close platonic female friend.
I have two close male friends. We don’t talk/text every day but we often do things together. There is no expectation of sex but they realize the benefits of having a close female friend.

I absolutely don't hate women. I have two daughters.
I've just never had a platonic relationship with a female and find it a little bit odd I guess. My wife disagreed with me so I came to the OT to see what all of you heathens thought

I always smh when this thread comes up every now and again, it's like the topic is a meme that has just been circulated and repeated so often that people just agree with it out of some kind of natural reaction.
If you're post-puberty age, it is actually possible to *GASP* have a female friend you dont' want to frick. Years ago I moved out of state and didn't know many people. I needed somewhere to live and searched aroudn and ended up meeting a female that I would end up living with. We became good friends, and there was nothign physical or sexaul about it, she was simply a friend. No "will they won't they" shite, no "oops dropped my towel hehe" moments, our lives were the same as any guy roommate I've ever had only a lot cleaner.
There's a spinoff question I've seen in here about preferring that over the other and I think that answer is an obvious hard no. There isn't a female on earth I'd PREFER to hang out with (except my wife I guess) over my guy friends. But to think that it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to be friends with a female without wanting to bed them is just insanely off base.

I've been friends with a girl since we were 6 or 7, and I text with her all the time. She lives a few states away so I don't hang out with her, but definitely would if she lived local. Wife loves her and texts with her regularly as well.
And I'm close to my mom's best friend, but that's a little different dynamic. She's kind of stepped in as the motherly figure since my mom died. I went to lunch with her last weekend.

I count this as an affirmative. I figured there had to be some men out there with female buddies

I’d can’t imagine being ‘buddies’ with a chick without ever thinking of sex.
Minus of course friend’s wives etc who I only hang out with in group settings.

Your roommate wasn't much to look at was she?

I think that the contents of someone's deep dark thoughts are less important than their behavior.
Obviously, not a good idea to be friends with someone who actively/consciously wants you. But if way deep down in someone's brain, they would sleep with you in an alternate universe under different circumstances, whatever. Who cares? What is important is whether they behave that way.
