I was having this discussion with my wife earlier and I say no. She was flabbergasted and got mad at me.

I'm not talking about your girlfriend's friend or a buddy's ex wife that you've known for years. I'm talking about independent friends that you go hang out with, talk on the phone with etc, but that you otherwise have no other connections to.

I told her that the vast majority of men would rather hang out with other guys over women if there's zero percent chance of sex. This didn't work out very well for me either

I think Chris Rock said it best "oh, we have some platonic friends but they are all by accident".

What say the OT? Was I wrong?

No. Men don’t need female friends.

We need guy friends and female sex partners.

Yes, of course. But women get really jealous about it. But it's ok for them to have platonic make friends though.

If we like a woman enough to hang out with her for no reason, it means we want to have sex and/or a romantic relationship with her. We're pretty simple creatures.

I don't, but for the most part, that's by choice. I don't need or want to hear from another female complain about what's going on in their life.

One's enough.

Why would I want to add drama to my life?

No, men who have female friends are just trying to bang them.

Hell yeah

Easy for them to get free drinks and pass them to you.

Depends on who the people are. Lots of cool females in this world and a bunch or moronic dudes

unless she cooks real good or is a tiger in the sack, there is no other reason to pay attention to a woman. lol

Either we want to have sex with them...or we want to angle in with their friends

Oh, let me edit my above comment. Going and hanging out just the two of you might be too much to be honest.

A group of my friends contains a woman who is fun to hang out with and can handle her own drinking. She's just not particularly attractive. So yes, I willingly have a platonic female friend.

And the drinks often come with a free side of mystery drugs. Classic win win situation

I count this as an affirmative. I figured there had to be some men out there with female buddies.

i do but only recently after getting divorced. i do think it is odd in a sense if you're the husband / boyfriend and the girlfriend / wife is talking to a male friend.
