There’s no reason for a man to have female friends. Females aren’t fun to be around unless you’re having sex so it would be really stupid to have them as friends.

Yeah, but leverage. Females flock together so sometimes your best in is a plutonic friend. Especially as you get older. You cultivate business relationships and friends through church or whatever it may be... if you are single, financially stable, and decent looking... Ladies be knowing and spread the word. It really isn't that hard to grasp. If you work in a client facing or sales position building relationships is extremely important. If you can't work it and leverage those relationships then you will never reach your potential especially with women living longer and making financial decisions more and more everyday. Peace, im bout to holla at my new girl that I met through a plutonic relationship. I will definitely be late to work in the morning.

I’m sure they find you rather unpleasant as well...maybe you should just stick to men.

No. Any man who does is either too afraid to ask her out or has other women and just agreed to "platonic" with this woman to see if stuff can develop, catch her at the right time.

If he figures out nothing will happen, he will disappear.

Also, sometimes men will do this if she is taken and he has no intention of crossing that line or if he isn't attracted to her physically.

I never pretended they wouldn’t. We actually talk about sex a good bit. Even with that they have no expectations and still continue to be close friends.

Well, they talk about sex with you cause they are hoping you will step across that line and do it. If they really were platonic, they would reject you if you suggested sex, not engage if you asked.

Just because you aren’t this guy doesn’t mean there aren’t guys out there like this. She’s correct. It just depends on the guy. Obviously there are guys out there that just hate women and want nothing but sex from them, many have voiced that here. Some men are good being friends in social settings and some actually appreciate having a close platonic female friend. I have two close male friends. We don’t talk/text every day but we often do things together. There is no expectation of sex but they realize the benefits of having a close female friend.
You’re not a guy. You clearly don’t understand. I’m a guy, and I’m telling you the 100% honest truth.

If a guy is wanting to be a platonic friend, it’s because he wants something more but for whatever reason doesn’t take it to the next level. He’s too afraid to make a move for whatever reason, and he’s either hoping one day it will organically turn into something more, or he just likes being around someone he wishes he could be with.

I mean, would you like being around a secret crush? Of course you would.

You think they are just a good platonic friend, but you are looking at it with your female brain and your own perspective. I’m telling you, as a man, from a male’s perspective, that men do not want to be friends with females they aren’t into. It’s just an instinctual feeling built deep into our psyche.

I have had female friends before. For the most part I did want to bang them usually,(and they usually knew) . But at the same time I respected them so I wouldn't really ever do anything with them.

I have had 1 female friend whom I genuinely never wanted to bang. And that is because truth be told she was not attractive to me at all. We are still friends to this day, but she is engaged to one of my good friends. So evem moreso I would never dream of doing something with her.

Just for context, all of these friends were from high school (you see them everday type thing, dont really hang out or evem talk much outside of school.)
Or college, where it's more of a casual hangout because we have mutual friends. That and meet in the library to figure out how in the hell are we going to survive this class type thing.

I have never had a female best friend outside of my wife.

I also call bullshite on anyone's wife being their "best friend". Your wife is supposed to be your wife. Your best friend is supposed to be someone else, very likely someone you knew before your wife.

What I do enjoy is his company it has nothing to do with sexual attention or keeping something from him. Yes, sometimes he brings up sex when we are hanging out but it’s not a discussion about sex between us. I’ve never teased the possibility with him...he knows where the relationship stands and accepts it.
