Maybe my question should have been "can a man have an attractive female friend?". I still say no.

I do, several of them. Probably wouldn't be platonic if we all weren't in relationships with others but they are friends and I enjoy spending time with them.

another word for platonic female friends is "spares".

I'm pretty similar. I have female friends through my wife that I've known for years. My question was more along the lines of "do you have a female friend that you otherwise have no other connections with?".

I don’t think so. It has to be difficult for a man to engage in platonic friendships with women unless the woman is not attractive. If she is hot and is wearing tight yoga pants and a sports bra, you are not going to be interested in anything she has to say unless a potential hookup could occur. Men think with their dicks unless money or power is involved which leads to potential sex.

I do not have any females I willingly try to hang out with outside of family and my girlfriend. I had some girls I have hung out with in the past I didnt want to frick, but even then I usually used them for something(hot friends, cooked in college so could get a real meal occasionally, something of value).

The issue is explaining this to your SO you can not do without sounding like an a-hole.

I definitely failed. She went to bed at 7:30 and called me an a-hole

group of my friends contains a woman who is fun to hang out with and can handle her own drinking. She's just not particularly attractive. So yes, I willingly have a platonic female friend.

Get enough drinks in ya and I bet she becomes real attractive.

I have some platonic female friends. One of them used to sometimes take me to Dallas Stars games when she had season tickets.

Was she remotely attractive to you? I'm interested in these stories.

Physically, no. She is a super cool girl though.

I have a few, but I'm not particular close to any of them. Women I used to work with, women I know from high school and college, etc. But my wife has met / knows all of them as well.

Sure. I had a hiking companion who was cooler than hell. She moved a few months ago but we still stay in touch. Her and I would go hiking together with her dogs fairly often

Got another in Skagway, one in Anchorage and another in Seattle. Always meet up with them when they're in town.

I have one female friend that I keep up with, but we’ve known each other for 25 years. She’s married, and I’m soon to be married. Besides that, I don’t go out of my way to hang out with girls. Why would I?

Sometimes you get to know gals (even attractive ones) a bit too much and you learn to appreciate the platonic level of friendship and keep it at that.

Only gay ones. No straight man hangs out with a female that he is not trying to bang.

I would say most don't except gay males. I wouldn't count coworkers or friends of your spouse or girlfriend as willingly.

Some men do friendzone women they aren't attracted to though.
