Of course they do

They don’t prevent every infection but it’s enough to prevent some.

Does washing your hands kill every bacteria and virus on your hands? No. But it’s still recommended.

All this nonsense about masks not working is equivalent to saying we shouldn’t wash our hands because it doesn’t kill every single bacteria or virus on the surface of our hands or prevent every infection.

Use some common sense.

Nah. Just like the TSA. It's all about socially conditioning you to comply or face negative consequences.

To some degree, but it isn't a major game changer. But if a store asks me to wear one I'm not going to be an arse and not do so.

No one is saying wear it continually

There's no need to wear one at home. No need to wear it in your car. Etc.

They will not prevent someone from getting it. The only way they help is if someone is contagious, it may help to reduce the ability of that person from spreading it.

People touch their face way more with that mask on than without, and half the people aren’t wearing them correctly anyway

Not sure you ever wanted to be taken serious when you picked this user name.

common sense tells me that if I'm not coughing, sneezing, or even talking to anyone, there is really no value in a mask

If the suggestion is going to be to wear it while in public and at work, then that could be 10 hours straight except for eating and drinking.

CDC tweeted yesterday that the suggestion is to wear it at all times while in public, regardless of distancing, indoors vs outdoors, etc.

1) It’s 90 degrees outside, being forced to wear a mask when you are not sick to enter a business is absurd.

2) Shopper wears mask, shopper then touches things in the grocery store, shopper then adjusts masks because its hot and he/she is sweating. Mask is now contaminated and basically useless

I think one of the most compelling arguments for masks is that like in most pandemics the viral load exposure is correlated with the severity with the illness.

In that case, even if masks don’t eliminate transmission, they could at least minimize illness severity for those who do get exposed, decreasing the probability of death which increases the probability of immunity.

Wiping your arse doesn’t get 100% of the shite off so why bother?
