quote:Of course not. Where did I say literally nothing? I’m a big proponent of washing hands. I’m a big proponent of the elderly and those with immune system problems isolating as much as possible. My point is why this and why now when it’s not necessary at all to protecting hospitals.
So we either have to do everything possible or literally nothing?

It's the logical conclusion to your questions of why we aren't requiring every little thing that may help.

So we aren't allowed to learn as this goes on and change policy to reflect that?

This is a question I have too. It's like people are wanting to set the level of safety up a few notches higher right now, when we're on the tail end of this thing. It's a big time lag in response.
We should have been demanding masks in public a month ago. Not now. It's too late now.

urgical and n95 mask definitely work. The cloth nonsense people are wearing to stores and in their car do not work
People are very uninformed.
Talked to someone yesterday who made her own mask and sewed in a HEPA filter. She claimed it would stop her from acquiring da Rona. She had no idea that the "experts" who want you wear a mask, are saying this to keep YOU from passing it to someone else.

Cloth masks are what the CDC is recommending
That's a very important word. They know they don't work, that's why it's a recommendation. It's to make people feel like they're being proactive

I bet she's one of those dumbasses who drives around wearing it too.

or because the CDC cannot mandate such a thing

This lawyer knows everything. It's best to not question him and his infinite knowledge

How do you know? Do you have a link to a study?

Not sure what you are getting at other than the majority of people don’t wash their hands properly. Besides, half the public wears a mask with their nose exposed.

Stop posting in Covid threads

You read what I wrote. It's too late now to get all high and mighty and adamant about being safe now. Telling people they're being selfish by not wearing a mask, ratting businesses out, etc.
Posted on 5/5/20 at 9:39 am to LNCHBOX
quote:It was a rhetorical question based on the logic behind wearing the masks in the first place. Mandie thinks it’s a simple measure to protect those around you and if you don’t you’re being the most callous person imaginable. Well, other PPE and behaviors “work” too. If it protects just ONE person from getting it, that logic applies.
It's the logical conclusion to your questions of why we aren't requiring every little thing that may help.
quote:You ignored the point completely (which is how you always form arguments). What situation are we in now that requires any changes at all? What about simple washing hands more often and social distancing hasn’t worked? Do you not think we are ready for phase one?
So we aren't allowed to learn as this goes on and change policy to reflect that?

This is just stupid

I bet she's one of those dumbasses who drives around wearing it too.
She also was clueless why it's a bad idea for the government to keep printing money and UAB was the bad guy because they are laying off 300 people and reducing wages on the others. Her quote was, "Pretty shitty that they have you work thru a pandemic, and this is your reward." I guess she the thought of the alternative never crossed her mind.

The CDC is very much influential in passing and regulating public health laws.

I don't think I ignored your point at all.

On one hand you say we don't need to change and then say we need to change to phase 1? You can't have it both ways. Can policies change as the situation changes or not?
