Or, that info could have been fabricated and/or embellished by companies like 3M. We've been lied to so many times over the last 3 months, I don't trust any info out there right now. Especially these supposed "studies" that happened.

viral load exposure is correlated with the severity with the illness
I’m not sure this has been proven and I’m skeptical.

decreasing the probability of death which increases the probability of immunity.
Definitely not proven

I think one of the most compelling arguments for masks is that like in most pandemics the viral load exposure is correlated with the severity with the illness.
In that case, even if masks don’t eliminate transmission, they could at least minimize illness severity for those who do get exposed, decreasing the probability of death which increases the probability of immunity.
don't think anyone is arguing that high risk people shouldn't wear a mask

Paper surgical masks do very little. If someone is constantly touching their face to adjust/mess with its likely worse than not wearing one at all. This has been reiterated to us multiple times at the hospital throughout this pandemic.
It’s much more beneficial for the actual infected to don the masks.

We all avoid someone wearing a mask. This is what it does. Would you sit next to someone who is wearing a mask?
This is how You could previously have a whole row to yourself on Southwest.

It was sarcasm. I’m using the logic of the mouth breathers

And that’s exactly why it’s been recommended, because of the large amount of asymptomatic spread.

ironically, heavy mouth breathers should probably wear masks

Do masks really work?
Surgical and n95 mask definitely work. The cloth nonsense people are wearing to stores and in their car do not work

Shopper wears mask, shopper then touches things in the grocery store, shopper then adjusts masks because its hot and he/she is sweating. Mask is now contaminated and basically useless
“Someone didn’t wash their hands properly. Why are we washing our hands? No one needs to wash their hands”
Your critical thinking skills need some work

So in your expert opinion dont wear a mask?
The way most people use them, they are negligible effective.

If the suggestion is going to be to wear it while in public and at work, then that could be 10 hours straight except for eating and drinking.
CDC tweeted yesterday that the suggestion is to wear it at all times while in public, regardless of distancing, indoors vs outdoors, etc.
Underlined the key word for you.

Let me guess, this isn't a covid thread too...

Wiping your arse doesn’t get 100% of the shite off so why bother?
“Masks work!”
Well, yeah. But not as well as washing hands. Wearing gloves and covering your clothes with a paper gown “works” too right? At least to some extent if done properly. Why aren’t those being suggested and required? Why don’t we do this all the time? What data point or threshold do we need to reach for “experts” to say it’s fine to walk outside without one?
And finally, Why the frick are we adding mitigations for slowing the spread when it’s already being slowed sufficiently? Too slow and not enough people are going to be exposed by the time August and September come around when schools go back and hundreds of thousands of college students are flying across the country right before the weather cools off and flu/cold season ramps back up. Is that really the goal here???

So we either have to do everything possible or literally nothing?
