Mask and gloves and washing your hands every 30 minutes are good things to do but will not prevent you from catching Covid -19.

Unless you're in an area with a shitload of people, there's no need to wear a mask outside. If you're in a closed building(i.e. grocery store) with other people close by, that's another story.
Not sure why the outcry of wearing a mask for a short period of time when around others. It's all about preventing the spread from asymptomatic people, even with a relatively cheap cloth mask. Will it stop 100% of what comes out? No, but it cuts down on that significantly and will help stop the spread from someone that has no idea if they have it or not.
Finally, this is all temporary. It may last longer than we want it to and people may feel inconvenienced by it, but it's temporary and masks won't be a part of everyday life forever.

Of course it's a game changer. I'm not wearing one unless I get on a plane or train or something similar. However, masks definitely radically reduce the reproduction factor of a virus.
