Disney is a fricking chore, not a vacation.

Lucky for me, my family shares this sentiment. We'd rather go camping or exploring some town/area we've never been to before and just take it a moment at a time. On the cheap too.

We just got back from our kid's high school trip to Disney and had a blast. We had two lines that were 60 min, maybe a handful that were 30 min, and the rest were under 15 min. Just use the app and don't get in 120 min lines.

Great food at Tusker House and the Food and Arts festival in Epcot. Was nice and drunk at Epcot, and slept on the late flight back home. Good times.

25 years ago I began telling friends that disney was the enemy. Boy I got some strange looks and many refused to asked why I thought that.

The Little Mermaid ; we had a secretary who decorated her desk with memorabilia from this movie. She would tell us that it was the greatest movie ever made. I avoided her.

disney's business practices: the company locked away Song of the South because they believed that it promoted racism.

We recently hired a new engineer who is a recent graduate and is female. On her first day at work she showed up wearing a disney movie sweatshirt. At first I thought she was someone's daughter who came to work with them that day. On her second day I realized who she was and she was wearing another disney shirt. Some folks refuse to grow up, like arrested maturity.

Every time they built a new on-property hotel or added to existing hotels (e.g., additions to Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge), I wondered, How are they going to fit all those extra guests into the parks?

Food prices have increased everywhere due to costs, this isn’t a Disney thing.

The quick service places have always been cattle feeders. This hasn’t changed. In fact, how Disney feeds so many people is amazing. They do a great job.

There are plenty of excellent restaurant choices to sit down and eat a great meal. But, many do need reservations in advance.

The magic is what you make of it. We go occasionally and it’s always been a magical time for us. We were there less than a year ago and it was fantastic.

Ride lines suck but you have to learn how to navigate them correctly for the less wait times. The only way to improve this is to keep raising ticket prices and let less people in, which they keep doing but people keep paying. So…what do you expect them to do? They can keep prices low but then they have too many people there.

Morale of the story is it’s up to you to navigate the parks correctly and have a magical time! Disney is expensive and crowded…you should have known this going in.

The magic was never there. It’s always been an overrated, artificial tourist trap.

We have a trip planned and seeing this thread makes me want to be a curmudgeon but I'm gonna go and smile and get drunk for the sake of my kids. And their grandparents are paying for most of it, so I don't have that to worry about.

And yet people will still line up to pay their outrageous prices and entrance fees, just like you are right now .. and nothing will ever change .

this

the millennial disney adult weirdos will continue to make things more expensive, and (young) families will continue to take their kids to disney because american keeping up with the jones culture says you HAVE to take your kids to disney, at least once.

Never been to Disney and will likely never go. Too much other cool stuff in the world that I don't have to wait in line to see.

You think it’s bad now? We went in October of last year, little known to us there was no genie pass or equivalent at that time as they were redoing it all. Every ride after 10 A.M. was an hour long wait. We had “early” hours but that was limited to 2 sections or so of the park. Spent most of the time at Wilderness lodge pool as the lines weren’t worth the hassle.

As someone who's been over 20 times and as recently as 2020, I completely agree. What has taken place just the last few years has made the experience much less fun and ruins what used to make it magical. The price, having to schedule every ride and moment, the cast member turnover and understaffed and simply being unhappy.

It used to be work to simply schedule the flights, parks, restaurants, and fast passes. But you were done 60 days out and once you were there, you just enjoyed it without having to think too much about this or that. Now you have to be in your phone ready to schedule and plan almost constantly. And I'm paying more for tickets? More for individual rides? More for food? And getting less for all of those things? frick that.

Don't go there and expose yourself to the demeaning and dehumanizing amusement park experience. Problem solved. Next.....

The downfall of the parks can be traced back to when they started setting times and roping off lines to see characters and stopped letting them walk around the park.

They don’t have them walking around these days? That was half the fun just running into random characters in the park and getting their autograph.

People that stay off-site are fricked, because by the time they arrive to parks, all the genie spots are taken. They'll fork over the fees for lightning lane, if available. Chapek says, frick you you Holiday Inn staying piece of shiat.
