Magic Kingdom was bad but we were at least able to ride some stuff without terrible waits. Hollywood was awful waits everywhere. Animal wasn’t bad but it’s bc Everest is down so all they have is avatar now.

Too many folks are buying the service. It's rendering the benefits of Genie + useless.
It never seemed to be an issue with Fast Pass+ even in the busiest times.

During this era, I never went to the parks, so I can't speak firsthand about the experience. I know a lot of Disney regulars who miss it dearly. I am unsure why that system seemed to work, and Genie + seems only to piss people off.

I have been lurking here for a while but this thread brings me out of the shadows. When I was growing up in the 2000s we would take a trip to Disney world every other year. The last time I went was in August of 2012.
The old fastpass system was easy to use. All you did was put your park ticket into a machine by the ride and it would give you a slip of paper with a time to return to use the "fastpass line". The strategy was to get there in the morning and get fastpasses for every ride as there was no limit on how many you could get at a given time and then you would have the rest of your day set. More importantly, the system was free to use for everybody.
The new thing, from what I have read seems to be a disaster, having to pay extra for something that does not guarantee you a fastpass (you have to log on to the app at 7am for the daily allotment and they are all gone within five minutes.)
What also has pissed me off with Disney is how so many of the attractions are no longer a blend of education and entertainment, instead many once-great rides have now been sold out to Disney movies and have that as their theme. The most egregious is perhaps the Norway ride at Epcot, once known as the Maelstrom. That was my favorite thing there, as the artwork and design were just beautiful. Now it is a "Frozen" ride, as if that movie has not been merchandised enough already. Same thing goes for Test Track, I remember when General Motors sponsored it and it actually taught you about automotive engineering while giving a great ride. Now it is "Tron" themed and all engineering aspects are gone. Finally, I seem to remember reading that they got rid of the France movie and replaced it with something about Beauty and the Beast. Once again, if I wanted to watch that I would just stream it. The old France movie was so good. I guess I could go on for hours, but all I can say is that I am never going to Disney again. It is just like any commercialized cattle park now.

Paid for Genie+ and could not use it one single time, One person told me about waking up a 3 am to use it and it took an hour. DWD should have refunded every dime I spend on that crap.
