Yep, you need a vacation from the vacation at Disney.. When we go, I always take two extra days to recover.

Just got back from cheer competition there. It’s completely different. The people are what changed. No illusion of working for Disney/the magic/happiest place. We had a late meal at O’Hana and took the monorail afterwards to get back to the car. We picked up a couple of workers at MGK that just got off. The girl proceeded to bitch and moan about an incident that she messed up and could’ve hurt someone. “I mean, it’s not like the guy died. The money’s not worth being fricking talked to like that.” Families on the train with her, zero care.

Yep. And when some people say frick it, there are new people just taking their place. And I can't figure out how the folks I see are affording it. I'm on a "moving to Orlando" facebook group from when we thought we were moving... and it is LOADED with people from snow states that are desperate to move to Orlando to be NEAR THE PARKS.

They have jobs like "admin at doctor's office," or "unemployed and have $2000," or "retail." They are looking for cheap apartments and somehow plan to spend time in the parks.

Depending on if you're referring to pre-deregulation, you also (accounting for inflation) paid about 5-8 times the cost of a current plane ticket.

And it is horrifically bad around the holidays. I've been going to Disney (Florida) since the mid-1970s. I may never go again, unless reports of vast improvement start to become the norm.

Universal Orlando, while it can still be very crowded, is a better overall experience and IMHO has been for about 4 to 5 years.

Universal was our nice retreat. Stay for a night at one of the express pass hotels, and enjoy a stress free day. Getting a room at one of those places has become a challenge, and tickets are thru the freaking roof. The only way we can do it is with military tickets that give us the entire year to use.

The new CEO has taken some heat lately but stupid adult-kids that go no matter what are helping to justify outrageous prices and keep the stupid coming.

So when you see one of those millennial morons there without kids and spend tons of cash, blame them.

Need to cut down on weirdo adults going, make a rule that you have to be there with a kid.

Skip Disney. Stay at The Hard Rock or one of the other universal properties. In my opinion, Universal is way more fun than Disney. A few years ago, not sure if it’s the same now or not, t by staying at the Hard Rock, our room key was a “fast pass” for every ride with a special line that you didn’t have to schedule like Disney.

Disney has always been work, especially if your family is bigger than 3. Even in off times it was bad. Now it sounds like there are not enough people to work even off times. No thanks.

What happened to just getting your kid a wiffle ball bat, machete, hutch football, and a bike ramp and tell his arse to get off the porch and get home when the street lights come on?

fricking Disney parents are the reason America is so damn soft.

Universal for a day since it was just the 2 of us. Tickets $209+tax, and if you wanted Express Pass, it was another $219+tax per ticket. (more than the ticket!) It was $800 in the cart FOR ONE DAY. No thanks. You could purchase a couple season passes, I guess, but no express passes.

If you stay at a Universal Resort the express passes are part of the deal. At least it was the last time we stayed. Their passes are way better that Disney. I don't know that I would go without having them the next time we decide to take the kids and go. We were able to ride everything we wanted, and multiple times on the ones they really liked.

Our last 2 trips (one during covid, other one before) have been off weeks in November and February and it seemed just as crowded then as when we'd gone in the past during peak season in the middle of summer. Seems like there isn't really any "off times" in Disney anymore. Only benefit is that I wasn't sweating my balls off all week.

We have always gone in October, December and November (not during any of the actual holliday days) and it has always been very crowded. Certainly not as hot as you said, but wait times were not very much better than summer months. For the amount of money you spend, it's a joke.
