I remember saying stuff like this back when I was a kid when we would play cops and robbers. I don't have a clue where we got it from. Perhaps it came from an old movie. No idea.

I was raised to say police or policeman. Cop was a derogatory term at the time. It bothers me when journalists refer to police as cops.

Even when my daughter was around 3-4, she knew that when my detector alerted on Ka band, she'd say, "Careful Papi, it's the popo!"
