24 hours out would be too soon to identify a center line, hence the damn cone
Yes, 24 hours is too soon to release a center line. However, 48 hours is not. What would have been the problem with the NHC saying what I said up until yesterday morning or last night? At that point, they release the cone that would almost nail down the center line to 10-20 miles as opposed to 150 miles.

Wow, would have thought with that big of a shift west that the surge projects for Vermilion Bay would have gone down some. Looks like it's still going to be rough as shite for Vermilion and Iberia.

While true, I’ve been in the dead center of 5 cones this year and have seen little more than sprinkles. LC has experienced the opposite, not in the cone until 48 hours out and getting destroyed. It eventually leads to a lack of confidence in the forecast.
I’m one to highly praise the NWS, but this year has been a setback.

Hurricane #Delta has slowly intensified overnight, now with max winds near 100 mph and a pressure of 969mb.
An eyewall replacement cycle overnight has been hampering organization of the core and holding strengthening to a gradual pace for now as the larger eyewall takes over.

Besides the shear panic it would create?
Guys, there is a Cat 4 near the Yucatán and heading to the northern GOM, but we don’t know enough to give you any remote idea where it’s going. Good luck.

I would think at this time, it won't be unusual for us to see a shift of 10-20 miles before landfall. With these steering currents, I think NHC still doesn't quite know when it will turn which is why you see the constant shifting west and east. I would assume this will continue until tomorrow am or until it makes the turn.

You’re a special kind of stupid. What’s the point of identifying parts of the coast that are on watch in words when you can do so with a C O N E ?
Maybe you should read the fine print on how to interpret the cone. It would make you appear smarter. Maybe. Probably not.

That never happened.

I did not say do not release anything. For Delta, I would have said, "at this time, it is heading towards the Yucatan. After that, the whole coast of Louisiana and SE Texas should be on guard. As we get more data once it gets into the gulf and not over land, we will feel more confident in releasing a potential specific landfall location."

I don’t see how that makes things any better

That is, quite literally, exactly what the cone said at that time.

Jesus Christ. There's nothing materially different from what you typed compared to what he said. You're just being a dick because you got your feelings hurt.
If you've nothing to contribute but your crying, you should frick off.
