That's the thing, I would not put out any prediction or cone until it was much closer than when they currently put out a prediction or cone. Instead, I would simply release something like the following statement:
"At this time, we are monitoring XYZ. It is too soon to identify a center line, but all the coasts of ABC should be on guard until further notice. As it gets closer and we get more data, we will feel more confident in releasing a center track."

24 hours out would be too soon to identify a center line, hence the damn cone.

That's 110 frickin miles, dude. That's not even remotely close for being less than 5 days from landfall. There were people in this thread touting how the NHC nailed landfall on Laura 5 days out. This thing went from being a real threat to SELA to a Cameron landfall in 2 days.
Yeah, they have a cone of error, but that's pretty far off for people to have been saying how spot on the NHC was before.

Here some dark humor. I finally got SuddenLink back yesterday. They put up our fence with the old wood just to patch work it for now. Her parents got their campers off generator power two days ago. We felt we could help them start planning for the next step.
I just told my wife we had just turned a corner.
Two days later it’s announced LC in storms path. I have it better than most and I know whining ain’t gonna change anything, but my God, it just drives you insane.
