Stay safe, y’all. Hoping for the best

You don't seem to understand there's more things that factor into the impact of a storm than just how strong the winds are. Gustav hit BR at a bad time where the ground was extremely saturated. It dumped a ton of trees all over due to that reason with whatever tornadoes it fired off. It seemed like a storm worse than it was because it came in at a bad time.

could bring hurricane force wind gusts to Baton Rouge and Ascension.
NWS forecast still shows max 46mph gusts based on the 10am forecast in BR.

The walls creaking and the windows flexing is an unsettling experience for sure. Not to mention the older people in the room saying the rosary while everyone is huddled in an interior room. I do like the glow from a hurricane lamp though.

Not soon enough for many, I'm sure.

It smoked yall and all we hear is the BR boys whining about it was so bad with their tropical storm winds
I've complained about it a couple times and I've seen a few from Thib complain on here as well, I think there are just a lot more BR bros on here than us so you hear them a lot more lol

Now, I will admit, I didn’t know we had nearly 210k members here over time, so 50 might be a touch too low
hell, we got (at least) 3 posters from Montegut in this thread, so i ain’t going on a limb and guessing anything now.

Gustav was a bad arse storm....but not really to yall in BR
You are a Weather Hero and we are all in awe. Personally, I've never commented on Gustav but I do recall spending three days solid dealing with my own property cleanup, closed roadways in my neighborhood, two weeks without a paycheck, and ten days with no electricity. I've also survived a direct hit by a fatal F4 tornado. If it's ok with you, I'd rather skip both.

meh. I was in a giant house sitting on the porch because the wind was blowing over the top of the house. We drank beer and watched oak trees snap and uproot
until one almost fell on the porch.

Is there a site to get guidance on what Halloween decorations need to be taken down for differing wind speed events? Right now I'm thinking take down the blowups but leave out the scarecrow and giant spider.

I was told BR was “fricked” and were going to get pounded and this storm was worse than Gustav for the city.

In fairness 777; you are doing exactly what you accuse the BR Bros of doing when you say the official winds of Laura are BS.
well i do have evidence considering I got to see our wind readings at our plant and got to watch video of the boats at hackberry.
Also kind of hard to measure winds when the weather instruments measuring it, broke at the airport.
but I get your point. and although I called Slacks numbers BS, in prolly 90% of the area Laura hit...his numbers hold true or are very close.
and FTR i and the other LC guys prolly only posted maybe, maybe a page full of comments on it. We been listening to the BR bros whine about gustav for 12 years in every hurricane thread.
and El is right....people should take these storms more seriously.

That sounds like a good way to make a bad situation worse.
My dad went through the eyewall of sally for hours and hours, never got into the eye so not relief - it was probably a cat 2 when it went over them but I can't remember exactly. But they have a fairly new house so weren't too worried. Age / Construction of house plays a big role.
