The surge maps say 2-4 feet where I live, but the river isn’t forecasted to spike at all.

We made the decision to stay with Beta and ended up land locked for 3 days.

Hate leaving during these things when there is no guarantee you can get back in.

That is a lot more common than most realize.

Assuming this thing makes landfall slightly west of Lafayette, what does New Orleans feel from this storm? Possibility of tornadoes?

I’ll be out of town, so I’m curious what my wife and kids will be dealing with.

It was but Gustav gave Baton Rouge higher wind gusts than Andrew.

I stayed in NOLA during Gustav for work. We had the bright idea to send half of our workforce to our BR operation, thinking they'd get a lot more done up there. What a Bad Idea that was...

Watching Zack Fradella from FOX 8 right now. Said on the current forecast track, combined with the forecast calling for it to expand upon landfall, could bring hurricane force wind gusts to Baton Rouge and Ascension.

His words, not mine.

White Lake it is. Can't imagine a shift of any kind at 4PM.

That being said, that rounding and turn NNE is going to terrify the Lake Charles folks. 36 hours from now it will probably be sitting due south of LC.

Just spoke to my 85 year old mom in Baton Rouge. Told her she can come stay with me in Texas if need be. She said she isn't worried about a damn hurricane. Said she had other bullshite to worry about.

Yes it was. Although the sustained winds weren’t that high but as a kid I thought our house was gonna blow away.

just gets fricking annoying how they talk about tropical storm force winds were the end all of everything.
If anything, it tells me that people need to take hurricanes seriously if 12 years after some 60 mph sustained wind has this much effect. People may not want to admit that they'd be terrified of going through a cat 1 or cat 2, but once they've been through 60+ for a few hours, they'll understand.

In fairness 777; you are doing exactly what you accuse the BR Bros of doing when you say the official winds of Laura are BS.

I think NHC shifts to east a little at 4 and maybe bends track some more inland. Eye should go through eastern Acadia instead of Jeff Davis/Acadia line
