My bad. I was thinking of the HMON.

I see no argument against that

I’d say 10% already left for good.
Do you really think over 10K people have already left with no intention of coming back ever? I think that's an absurdly high number.
75% of the estimated percentages are made up on the spot.

It’s higher than that

Will my rental in Destin be OK?
You know you can’t mention anything having to do with your finances... it hurts the feelings of the E-Hardasses living in an apartment in their 30’s.
Edit: Only 4 downvotes? Those are rookie numbers, OT. Need to pump those numbers up!
I took the downvotes to mean yes it will be fine

With the models trending now West it looks like the impacts won’t be severe for the GNO area. Could change but I doubt we see any East shifts unless something big changes.
It's Tuesday. Friday night is a ways away. I'm not counting my chickens...
Seriously. I want to punch every person in here cheering (or trying to reverse jinx) Nola being clear. Do we not remember the Eastward jog Sally did before wrecking shite in AL/FL?
If this thing turns North even a few hours early, Nola is in bad shape.

Thought I would post this. Vast difference between Mr Hunter and the past NOLA mayors and others....a statement from Nic Hunter, Mayor of LC
No tl;dr. It’s worth the read.

Well folks, it’s official. 2020 is one for the history books. I remember going through some moments earlier this year when I thought that our community stress level here in Southwest Louisiana had reached its high point for the year. I was wrong. It seems like the pile of “unprecedented” continues to grow. If someone was pitching these events to a movie producer in Hollywood, I think at some point the producer might say, “ok, you’re getting a little ridiculous. No one is going to believe that all of that could happen in the same year.”
As I type this, Southwest Louisiana is facing the possibility of another impact from another hurricane, this time Hurricane Delta, because of course this hurricane season has already exhausted all the other, regular names. We are still reeling from Hurricane Laura. Much progress has been made since Laura, but there are still many people going through pain and struggle. I believe we must be careful not to compare or contrast one person’s struggle against another’s. None of us truly know what someone is going through unless we are in their shoes. There but for the grace of God go I.
I also feel it’s important for us to remind ourselves about the resiliency of humanity and what a community is capable of getting through, if it is up to the task. Just in the Twentieth Century alone, Americans faced two world wars, the Dust Bowl, the Spanish Flu pandemic, the Great Depression, the Cold War, the assassination of a President, the resignation of a President, and the assassination of civil rights leaders. 108 million people died from wars in the Twentieth Century. I could go on and on.
Lake Charles has persevered through all of the above-mentioned national, historic events and a few that were more localized. I’m sure there are some reading this who remember the bumper stickers on some Lake Charles vehicles in the 1980’s that said “Last one to leave, turn out the light.” There were also some who said we would never recover from Hurricane Rita in 2005. Let us remember that we have been through times like this before. This recognition won’t make any of the suffering or struggle from current events disappear, because many truly are facing trials more difficult than any they have ever faced before in their lives. We must acknowledge that the task before us is herculean but also that it is surmountable.
Some tend to think that a mayor’s office should have all the answers to every problem all the time. Believe me, I wish that were the case. For a community to truly flourish in good times and bad, government, non-profit agencies, faith-based organizations and citizens themselves all have a part to play. City of Lake Charles employees shall continue to show up to work every day to do our part. I will continue to show up to work every day to do my part. We will continue to advocate for those in need and connect them to resources that are outside the realm of City government. Let us all remind ourselves what humanity went through in the past with less technology, medical expertise, and connectivity than we have today. If there ever was a community that could make it through 2020, it would be Lake Charles. I firmly believe we are up to the task.

Hey SW2, mind if I ask if you/your wife lost "valuables" ie baby heirloom blankets/quilts; photos? That type thing? Seriously considering packing those things ... we're right south of Abbeville.
I've packed all of that before, including EVERY photo in my house but man .. it's a pain.

For the readers of the thread, no one with any idea what's happening will speculate at track shifts without giving some reasoning.
