I've experienced a 13" snowfall during the 93 "Superstorm" that was fun, but became a royal PITA because it was almost immediately followed by -11 degrees (-65 wind chill) that turned the 13 inches of snow into ice.

South Louisiana would not know what to do with 6+ inches of snow. God knows no one would know how to drive in it.

It happened in 2017, we got like 7-8 inches. Our power went out. It was beautiful and fun for the kids.

in certain locations maybe, but I distinctly remember seeing official reports, i.e. at various airports and other stations of 6-8”+. And from the pics I saw, I believe it.

IIRC it was 60 the next day so it wasn't too bad. Most interstate and roads were open the next day.

But this time staying cold for so long, this will be a different animal.

Biggest snows I can remember were Jan 2002, Dec 2008, and Dec 2017

There were some ice storms in there like 2014 but those there were the big snows

I don't recall it being that bad. Roads were closed but "shitshow" is a bit strong.

remember that one fondly. Was in high school and missed an ACT test that morning in Hammond with the snow and ended up having a kick arse snow day and got to feel up some breasts that night

We beat Kentucky in the PMAC and during a TV timeout the little band that does basketball played the slowest, clearest Neck I've ever heard

I hardly remembered the 2002 and 2017 snowfalls without you mentioning it. I do remember that 2014 ice storm. I was at LSU and classes were cancelled and we pregamed all day for the arse whooping we gave UK in the PMAC.

Think the 2 biggest snowstorms of my life down here were that ‘93 snowfall I remember just from pictures of me in it as a baby and 2008

yeah…like I said some spots were less, and that’s one spot, literally. Points east got a lot more than that.

2017 Charleston had 6 inches of snow and the entire city shut down for a week

It stayed below 30 degrees most of the week so the snow would melt during the day but freeze again at night. Many bridge closures. The main roads were fine but the neighborhoods with all the oak trees had lots of shade so those roads never thawed. Not fun to get around in.

I would expect something similar in places here with all the tree cover if temps stay low
