Biggest snows I can remember were Jan 2002, Dec 2008, and Dec 2017
I remember back in 1988 around Feb. 7th, we got around 2-4" in the Lafayette area.

I drove home from work in that 2017 snowstorm. Had to stop halfway home and dig the snow out from around my windshield wipers. Ended up getting right around 4 inches.

In south Louisiana? That was like 3-4inches of snow
I took this picture on December 8, 2017 just north of downtown St. Amant at 12:28pm.

The weather app on my phone is saying 7” to 9” of snow for Metairie on Tuesday. WTF?

Implying st amant has a downtown does detract from your credibility a bit baw.

Always a safe assumption

This is such a great post, and can apply to most of the Louisiana towns we all live in

If this comes to fruition, it would shut Houston down for two days. This city simply can't handle subfreezing temperatures and moisture. Every elevated roadway gets closed.
It is both sad, comical and infuriating...just like LSU's tackling the past few seasons.

Gulf (of America) Effect Snow!

If some of these totals happen there will be lots of carport collapses etc with all the flat roofs and no snow loading considerations in construction down here.

whatchu mean baw?
My actual question is what does he consider "downtown"?
Delaunes, Murrays, Cajun Daiquiris?

Usually between 11am-12pm.
the GFS updates every 6 hours and I believe a couple other models update every 12 hrs.

And I'd imagine it was a shitshow
Not as much as you would think. It was just snow. Now about 7-8 years there was an ice event that shutdown I-12 from the news bridge in Baton Rouge to Covington. A ton of traffic diverted to Hwy 22 through Ponchatoula. Now that was a shite show. Cars in ditches everywhere

Yep.
If I remember correctly didn’t they open up admission to folks on campus because regular season folks couldn’t drive in due to the storm? I know a bunch of Kentucky fans ended up not being able to make it down.
That place was rocking.

PSA: if you want to measure snow depth, make sure you place something outside that gives you a hard surface to measure up against (like a piece of wood)
if you measure in a grassy area you may get multiple inches higher than the true value due to space beneath the snow layer and hard surface below the grass line

If the snow event doesn't pan out, we should see temperatures being slightly higher than current forecast, correct?
