Shame on black Democrats and their white Progressive political overseers for continuing to be horrible neighbors and governing in a manner that increases the social pathologies that make Normals want to get as far away from them as possible. You black Democrats built this. Excuse us for noticing how truly shitty you are.

Are there areas in EBR parish that are not in city limits of Baton Rouge, Central, Baker, or Zachary, but also not within the proposed city of St George? What happens to those folks?

Maybe Gardere will incorporate and form their own city too

I wouldn’t say it’s their best defense, but when they lose in a public debate it becomes their crutch and last retort.

At this point I really don’t care one way or the other. I wasn’t living in that house when any petitions were passed around, and I’m not complaining about not being included.

I was just saying, if you go look at the newest version of the map, it deliberately excludes some lower income areas, apartment complexes, historically high rental neighborhoods, etc.

I’m not saying your theory isn’t incorrect, it just seems rather convenient for the St George supporters that it played out that way.

Gardere could apply to be annexed into BR.

Yes, my rental house is in an area like that. I assume that everything stays the same for the property. The line for St George literally grabs the shopping center near that neighborhood, but not the neighborhood.

The revised lines are fairly racist/classist.

bullshite. The area of your rent house did not support incorporating, so they were taken out. It was completely democratic. Congrats on your shitty rent house.

And there is a reason for it... Not going to vote yes? Not going to be part of the new area.

Are y'all in the city limits or just not included in the proposed area? We are just barely in the city limits.

We're in the city limits too, which go all the way to O'Neal Lane. Below is a link which shows the "city proper" for everybody

Part of that is many of the signatures during the first effort were thrown out because people that lived in those areas either were registered in another part of town or moved out of the area so their signature was no longer valid.

Also after St George becomes a city, if those areas do want to join, they can ask to be annexed.

It turned out this way because areas adjacent to the current SG didn’t support the movement.

Do you suggest that it’s better to include folks who demonstrated in mass that they didn’t want in?

Well they know the city is gonna take a tough turn when this happens but they did it to themselves.

So they can bitch all they want to but it’s all their fault this is occurring

You can't talk sense into people who don't want to see it the right way. The only reason this is a "rent house" is because there isn't a tenant in it who is a viable future resident.

THIS!

This happened when I was in 5th grade, and it turned out my public school would've been Capitol Middle school, for a kid living near LSU. Luckily I was in a magnet program. . .

Lot of that happened around that time.

My parents looked at the district where my big sister would attend and realized their four year old daughter would get bussed across town to a shitty school in the hood. They immediately started looking for alternatives.

And thus an entire generation of kids entered private schools, most of whom only it if they got into BRHS.

Senator Karen Carter Peterson, from New Orleans, used language that some will find offensive. She said the entire process has “racial implications.” “If it’s the City of St. George’s tomato, they’re going to pay for their tomato. If it’s the City of Baton Rouge, they have to assume theirs, and there’s gonna’ be a lot of things that have to be worked out,” Claitor said. “I didn’t get sent here to sit at my desk and watch injustices and unfairness happen. It’ll be a goddamn shame is this bill passes,” Peterson said.

so... here's my question

why does a senator from New Orleans care about a land dispute in Baton Rouge?

I understand she has to vote on the issue at some point... but she's out of her lane (see what I did there) to be the one yelling fire and brimstone about this issue
