She's needs to "get sent" to some English classes.

Are y'all in the city limits or just not included in the proposed area? We are just barely in the city limits.

Senate Democrats originally supported the bill in committee, but several were upset Wednesday with changes that were made without their approval.
Can anyone tell me what those changes were?

After watching the committee hearing last week, it's amazing to me that someone like Peterson is in charge of anything government related, and people actually voted for her. Just goes to show what kind of shape our state is in. Sad

Do I understand that democrats have annexed most if not all of the revenue streams from the proposed St. George boundaries, yet want the Parrish debt to be shared equally if not weighted towards St. George?

Incidents like this serve as a reminder as to just how desperate these people are fighting to keep power,

First they annexed unpopulated areas to take the low hanging fruit by making promises to the Mall owner, to a casino and hospitals. This scared folks and brought in more revenues.

Then they hired an “independent ” attorney to do some of their dirty work and scare more folks. They smeared SG leaders and did what they could to make folks more apprehensive.

The new mayor has used the same tactics, but still the SG grassroots group has pressed on, and she and city hall have been exposed as money hungry, power brokers.

Let them play the race card, and leg them bring in outsiders to help them. SG can’t get better publicity.

Just read the daily report. The amendment would limit the amount of money the new city would have to pay towards covering parish pension debt and also restrict how the parish spends the money it does collects from St. George to cover legacy costs.

Are there areas in EBR parish that are not in city limits of Baton Rouge, Central, Baker, or Zachary, but also not within the proposed city of St George? What happens to those folks?

Yes, my rental house is in an area like that. I assume that everything stays the same for the property. The line for St George literally grabs the shopping center near that neighborhood, but not the neighborhood.

The revised lines are fairly racist/classist.

You know they're desperate when this is their best defense.

And there is a reason for that, IMHO.

The “sweeps” of parish money for the past 30 years into the city’s budget should more than cover St George’s portions of legacy debt.

St George got stiffed on infrastructure and services in the amount of hundreds of millions if you count across 30 years. Does BR want to take a look back at 30 years of city parish budgets to deny that?

They are areas that either requested not to be in the proposed city or had low signatures/low interest in joining.

They have not. There are many commercial establishments still in SG.

But yes, they want to paint the parish debt as bring astronomical when SG’s exposure has yet to be proven.

Keep in mind SG folks would still pay taxes to support debt incurred by all the parish wide bond issues. That’s not changing.

Incorporations try to take in businesses (income) and people willing to support the incorporation.

Trying to incorporate people who don’t want to do so is a self defeating effort.

If the people in that area didn’t sign in high numbers on the original incorporation petition, don’t bitch about not being asked back again.

Yes, and nothing happens.
