That's horrible. Prayers to the family of the deceased. Really no words.

Reported said the ride operators took off their shirts and ran when this happened.

little too late. If only these people would be more proactive instead of reactive.

Where are they going? Most likely are illegal immigrants anyway.

The last fair I went to, there were a bunch of illegals running the rides, kids running the impossible to win games, and a mixture of homeless looking folks helping operate a variety of different shite. If you can fog mirror you are a carnival worker.

This isn't your typical local county fair though. Almost a million people attend it annually. I would expect higher quality vendors for something like this.

Good grief that is horrible. Saying a prayer for those people involved, just witnessing had to be traumatic.

Assembled by high school dropouts and inspected annually by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. What could go wrong?

What are the odds that the ride operator was named Lefty?

Last year I went to the State Fair for an Indian Princess event with my 5year old. Part of the package was ride tickets, and she kept pointing out rides she wanted to go on, like the roller coaster or the parachute ride. We settled on the merry go round and a boat ride. I figured they were 'safe enough' and we couldn't get into too much trouble on either ride. I rode the pirate ship and many other rides as a kid, but as an adult... No way! I feel like all those rides are set up with cotter pins- easy set up, easy take down. It's not happening for me and my kids.

They mentioned that it's been raining a lot while trying to set up some of the rides. It delayed it a bit and said they stayed up all night trying to get the rides up and running.

Seems like you mentioned, they either weren't inspected or not properly. And the rides were rushed, so no telling what all they'll find.

Same. I rode this exact same type of pendulum ride that's in the video. Now you couldn't pay me to get on rides like this at the fair. Portable rides, hastily assembled by poorly skilled Carnies. Nope nope nope.
