Pretty sure it hit one of the barricades on the bottom, so the ride may have been swinging too far off-center (i.e pull back one those clanging steel ball doohikies, but then pull it to the left before letting go).

Looking at it closer, I don't see how it missed the red railing on the right on the way down. It also looks like one of the riders dangling legs may have hit that railing
