I still like his music, but by all accounts he’s a real piece of shite.

There are few people in any profession who are universally hated. DAC is universally hated, no one likes him.

Always heard back in the day he took a percentage of the bar sales as well as his fee to play a show. He didn’t like AC and would make more money cause more drinks were sold in a hot bar / club.

I worked at a bar that DAC played at. He was a total piece of shite person. Treated everyone like shite and said he wouldn’t play unless we removed the two black people (out of about 1200) that were there that night. Barked orders at everyone and some of his own entourage seemed uncomfortable around him.

I used to valet at Lauberge in LC. We parked his vehicle one night. He forgot a phone charger and asked me to go get it. I rode out on the golf cart to his black suburban and got the charger. He was definitely living in the vehicle. Had a mattress in the back and clothes and shite everywhere. Vehicle was gross. He had long braided, white hair. If I didn’t know any better, I’d have thought he was just some nasty old hippie. He was super nice to me though and gave me $10. This was around 2012 or so.

I messed around with one of the barmaids who was in one of my classes at SLU. She was a straight up slut who viewed sex a recreational sport.

I saw him at Bainbridge Bikerfest in 97 or 98. 15 year old me stoned and full of beer had a blast. It was awesome. He played for hours. Even the black bikers were revving up their motorcycles during ‘If that ain’t country’.

I am suprised he was still doing shows at that time. I graduated in 1995 and he looked like he was on his last leg at that point!

Hell it might have been later. I think I moved to Baton Rouge in September 2011 and saw him sometime after that.

I saw him at Mississippi State at the amphitheater in the tailgating area. Early 90s, good show from what I can remember.

I saw him at a place called Live Bait near the river along the Jefferson Parish and Nola line.

It was indeed hot, but it was an open air kind of thing. He made it worse by asking the owners to close off the doors on the back side because some people were sitting on the levee listening and not paying.
Mid 90’s time frame.

The KA’s brought him in to play at their house. But demand was so high they moved it to the assembly center. I believe they had to get him a bucket of fried chicken too.

I saw him in San Antonio back around 2005 or 2006. His son is/wasin the band.

DAC himself looked 3/4 dead and completely unhealthy. To say I’m amazed that man is continuing to live today is an understatement.

That goes back to the cave incident. He took his son on the road with him so he could avoid child support. The boy was like 16/17, and the story was that the mother had no idea he was going on the road. I think it eventually got settled somehow, but he avoided going to Tennessee for years out of fear of being arrested.

You’re talking about Tyler Mahan Coe. He played with DAC for years. Seen him several times. Look up Tanya Montana Coe, apparently she and her dad don’t see eye to eye.

Saw him play Hal and Mals in Jackson Ms once in late 90s. He threatened to beat a dudes arse if he didn’t quit leaning on the stage. Good times!
