Any of you in downtown Austin? I understand the Cybercabs are everywhere as part of the official kickoff. I noticed on the Tesla page they just posted a link for anyone interested in starting their own fleet or installing infrastructure for them.

I took one this morning. It was really a driverless model Y and not the gold one but yes those are everywhere today.

So if and when one of them hits someone the liable party, I assume, will be Tesla?

How do you pay? With an app or what?

Is Waymo still in Austin?
Just a bunch of damn robots rolling around the streets.

Do they have a big home base? Or do they just stay out on the roads all the time?

What's the cost versus a similar Uber or Lyft ride?

This tech is a game changer for people with disabilities. So many people can't drive due to health concerns. When this goes private and a citizen with epilepsy or CP can buy one and get approved to use it for private transportation, so many doors will open for those people to live a life they sometimes struggle to live.

Very underestimated impact by most. I've had a few elderly folks ride in our tesla with FSD, their immediate response is how much it could impact their lives in the very near future as they have become less comfortable driving.

Gonna be a lot of sex going on in those things.

You mean “affect” their lives.

It was reported Tesla is now up to around 150 combined taxis with the new fleet and older model ys already out there. But generally are not available 24/7 depending on weather conditions
Waymo has around 300 vehicles now in Austin and has operated autonomous vehicles for around 18 months in the same area.
Obviously this is Tesla largest market.
Waymo is now operating 500,000 rides a week
Tesla had estimated to complete 10000 rides in total

In Phoenix back in the Spring a Waymo was around 10/15 bucks more than uber or lyft

Probably a wash once you add in a tip for Uber/Lyft.

I haven’t checked in a while but Waymo is cheaper in Houston.

Reports are a tsla ride will cost 50% less because the car costs less.

At the reported $30k for a personal one when they go to market, where to you want my deposit?
My wife and I are 76, her driving is getting to the point we are discussing taking her keys and me driving her. Her typical day is an 8am gym dance class, then yoga etc., a doctor appointment once a week, stop at a grocery store etc, lunch with some ladies club, home by 2. I would have to be her chauffer.
To own that vehicle would mean years of independence for both of us.
