Bingo. Most people understand the situation but some people are ignorant to that fact that crawfish is a living for some people. I don’t like the high prices even as a producer I wish there was a happy medium for everyone

This board cracks me up when it comes to crawfish prices. It’s like supply and demand principles of economic somehow should be irrelevant with crawfish.

I only eat maybe 10 lbs of boiled crawfish annually. I will wait until late April to buy some if the prices are reasonable. If the price remains high, I will eat shrimp or do without .

The mouth breathers that post here wish everything into existence. Then act shocked when it happens.

What are the requirements to be on this board ? Some white shrimp boots and a funny last name?

You’d think Jeff Landry, as a conservative Cajun man, would institute a price ceiling on crawfish for the folks that supported his campaign.

It doesn’t matter what they cost if your able to use an EBT food stamp card to buy them!
I’ve been into several stores that sell crawfish that had people ahead of me buying them. Every single one paid with a La Purchase Card!
So stupid to allow that to happen.
And of course they pull out a wad of cash to pay for the beer to go with them.

THIS!!! Plenty of them sell the buy live and we will prepare for free. Total BS. Not anecdotal, seen it with my own eyes.

Chinese Buffet restaurant in Portland texas had tray of boiled crawfish. No limit on how much you can take. 15$ for the entire buffet.

Of course they looked and smelled like buffet crap

Thanks for letting us know, I’ve been wondering for years how often Klingler7 ate crawfish.

Not sure the industry will make it now

That’s absurd.

Local mom and pop seafood place here in north FTW will sell you cooked crawfish for 12/lb. It’s not quite the same as on the bayou but close enough for me not to mind.

I have seen $6.99/lb boiled... and no I am not paying that much either but $15 a pound is just ridiculous. They are probably going for the same % as they had when they were 1/3 the price, pricing just doesn't work like that

How do those hold up flavor and texture wise? I eat flash frozen shrimp and those are fine

The whole boiled crawfish are dipped in boiling water very briefly then frozen. Not sure if some plants flash freeze but the one plant I know that does simply boxes them up and put them into frozen storage until they're sold and shipped out across the country.

I've had them in Texas before when I was based out of there for work. Besides them not knowing how to season them worth a shite, I found the meat to be rubbery and the fat is not the same texture and not nearly as flavorful as live crawfish boiled like we do them here.
