Over 30,000 illegals crossed big bend per month under Biden

I don’t know where you got your number but CBP reported close to 12k apprehensions in the Big Bend sector during Biden’s last year. That’s just who they caught. To say that it isn’t a problem and couldn’t happen is ridiculous. Especially once it becomes known that there are no physical barriers there compared to the rest of the border, the cartels and leftist organizations will funnel illegal aliens right through the park.

You think it’s beautiful now? Wait till the illegal invaders start leaving their trash everywhere like they have around other parts of the border

…I’m on the fence about this one.

I wouldn’t be opposed to building the wall across the entire southern border and continuing to beef up border security. What happened from 2020–2024 simply cannot be allowed to happen again if we want to remain a sovereign nation.

But I also agree there seem to be less intrusive alternatives than building a wall through a national park. I wonder if it wouldn’t be cheaper and more practical to use UAVs/satellites to monitor for heat signatures and detect illegal crossings through Big Bend. If....they were to somehow survive, have Border Patrol waiting with a bottle of water, and a bus ticket to send them back Mexico.

Aren't only ~1% of border encounters between Mexico and the US occuring in Big Bend Sector, which is geographically the longest of the sectors in terms of border length by a wide margin?

Again, I'm all for border security. This just seems like we should pause and think about what we're planning to do in an already brutal terrain and beautiful national park for a relatively minimal benefit.

The Big Bend Sector covers 77 Texas Counties and the entire state of Oklahoma. I live in Brewster County, know several BP Agents and had conversations with Brewster and Terrell County Sheriff’s. They are all against physical barriers and want technology instead. Go check out Sherriff Thaddeus Cleveland’s Facebookbook or google.

Most Texans regardless of politics don’t want a wall in Big Bend. It’s not a hotbed of illegals being so remote and rugged.

Along the lines of that last word above, it would be really impressive to put up a functioning wall in some places where they’d need to.

the wife and I hiked 14 miles over two days with an overnight camp in big bend, we each had to carry 2 gallons of water and we ran out on the hike back in. So roughly one gallon every 7 miles. Now imagine you are an immigrant trying to cross into Texas thru big bend…once you leave the river there is no water until you either get to chisos basin visitors center which is 25 miles and a 1000’ climb, or terlingua (30 miles, 900’). You would be dead before you got halfway

The problem comes with policies like the Biden administration implemented. All you had to do was reach US soil and claim asylum. That’s it, that got you a ticket into the country. So if there is a border wall covering 90% of the border, that 10% without a wall will be exploited under a democrat administration.
There is too much money to be made by the cartels and too many potential democrat voters to think they will do anything else.

Listen, I don’t want a border wall going through a beautiful national park….I don’t think anyone does. But after what we saw during the Biden administration, I will put nothing past the leftist who want to flood our country with illegal aliens. The same democrat party just passed a resolution to abolish ICE. That means if they abolish ICE as well, there’s no mechanism to remove illegals

Yeah there is a reason a certain senator that gets the majority of his campaign donations from corporations is for keeping our borders unprotected.

Cheap labor.

A technological barrier of the Big Bend is the obvious path. However the donkeys have already proven they won’t enforce federal immigration laws. So a “so called technology border” will wholly useless if the federal executive branch refuses to enforce immigration laws. While a border wall isn’t a 100% effective, a wall would be a whole lot more effective than a technological barrier whenever another donkey POTUS refuses to enforce federal immigration laws.

What will get completed first-

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore or this border wall that we've been talking about for a decade?

Using 2024 numbers comparing Big Bend sectors numbers to other sectors is disingenuous. Of course it doesn’t have the apprehensions as the other sectors, there were too many other places to cross the border. The problem comes when there is a border wall covers the entire border except for the open Big Bend sector. That’s when those numbers will change

I sure hope this is true. They've already messed up quite a lot down there in Big Bend. Building a wall where natural walls exists is quite dumb. Many ways to patrol this boarder without destroying the landscape.

Reading is a useful skill set because you would’ve answered your own question if you possessed the ability to read; “so called technology border” will be wholly useless if the federal executive branch refuses to enforce immigration laws.”

Is that the terrain of Big Bend for its entire length along the river? Or is this like the propaganda for ANWR when they show a few beautiful mountains but the place they wanted the pipeline was a barren icy craphole nobody visited?
