I was pretty neutral until we had my daughter in March. I have no free time anymore, but can not imagine life without her. Without a doubt, the best thing I have ever done.

I'll never understand why people care what other people do with their lives.

I'm enjoying mine now. Yea, I'll have kids one day, but lord I don't want or need them right now.

I don't want kids right now at almost 28. Will that change in a few years? Probably

But not now
I was 31 before i had my first kid. Not that i couldn't before, just wanted to make sure i was financially/morally set in life before bringing a kid in this world.
I have serious disdain for irresponsible people who don't do it the right way. There is no excuses for "Accidental Pregnancy's" If you don't want to have a kid there are full proof ways to make sure it doesn't happen.
I have two kids and decided that at my age i do not want anymore so i got a vasectomy several years ago to make sure it doesn't happen.

I hate irresponsible people.

I do applaud people who realize they don't want kids; and there are too many unwanted children in this world who have bad parents.

I know that I want children. Obviously not at this moment at my age and stage in my career, but I definitely want them 5-8 years from now.

This is my big thing. I hate to be responsible for someone being forced into this shitty fricking world we love in, and It gets worse and worse every waking day.

Yup. And getting to the heart of the thread, this is why most people shouldnt have kids. If not most, a hell of alot of people shouldnt have kids. Of course, I was one that agreed in the "application for childbirth if on government assistance" thread a few wks ago.

I wish the woman two rows behind me on my plane decided not to have the kid crying his/her arse off right now. But other than that, I don't care at all how others choose to live their life with respect to children.

I would personally rather people agree not to have kids than have kids and not want them or care to be a good parent

IMO they will regret it when they are old and have no one to come visit / take care of them. I can't imagine being in your 80's and have no one to help you out.

Several people have said this already. It seems a really selfish reason to have kids.

Think about how arse backwards this is. "I want kids so they can take care of me."

Obviously not the only reason and I have three kids myself. My grand mother is in a nursing home and often i visit and see some of these people there that either have no one or shitty kids that don't visit and it is very depressing.

We'll be waiting a couple of more years....so I can understand not wanting to rush into it.

I think I'd regret it later if I didn't have kids.

People care so much for their elderly parents that they ship them off to nursing homes.

I have a hard time imaging that being the scenario in which I regret not having kids.

I'm gonna say there is a whole lot more suck in the world than not having kids. Kids growing up in dysfunctional or broken homes is significantly more sucky. Which begs the question, is having kids always about the kids or about the couple, or mother's joy in life? It's a very heavy responsibility, and one that should never be taken lightly, and so I can easily see both sides to this, and there just isn't a one size fits all answer for all couples in life, and not everyone has the same path or purpose in life either. That's why comparisons and group think or group purpose is a failure.

Truth be known, comparing your life to others is a very dangerous thing to ever get into. It begets two uglies, pride and envy. Nothing good comes from it.
