The uncircumcised people are on a whole different level of crazy.

A friend of mine decided not to have kids, now him and his wife just travel the country. Do what makes you happy.

My favorite term from this whole thread is calling a kid a "frick trophy"

Maybe the people without kids use the money that parents use on birthday presents and go to top notch care homes etc. and have someone to look after themselves there?

I just love that the same argument for why you should have kids pops up over and over and over in these threads.

"But who will look after you when you are old?"

I would think that couples that decide not to become parents actually do think about what happens in their old age....and plan for it accordingly.

Like they ever thought "yeah I just don't think we really want to be parents, but we gotta have someone to take care of us when we get older so let's go ahead and have a kid or two" because other people asked them that question.

My grandmother used this on me a few years ago. My response to her was - so you had my mother so she would take care of you when you were old? She changed her tune really fast, as my mother is taking care of right now.

I mean...it's probably the biggest decision you can make in your life. So I would imagine whatever way you choose....you would seriously think about the path you are choosing.

I want a child, but after just spending a few months seriously pondering if I really want to be a parent....I realize the only person that needs to totally understand my decision and be on board with it....is my spouse. As long as a couple is on the same page with it...why does it really matter to others?

exactly!

I can see why it would matter to others, or they think it does. Parents and grandparents might have a vested interest in you having a kid.

Your friends might also have an opinion. After each set of friends had kids, there was a push for us to breed - so our kids could play together.

And to be honest, when we hear one of our friends is pregnant, we pretty much assume we won't see them for 5 years.

This thread is still going? Am I still a bad person for not wanting kids?

Yes. We are a selfish group and all we ever do is go on vacation and die lonely.

Certainly? Hard to say isn't it? I'm fairly certain we will have more disposable income during our life and retirement funds even having multiple kids than some couples will have even having no kids. Kids are certainly not the only variable here.

I was real close to deciding not to have kids. I don't think I would of regretted not having them. I may regret having the one in October.

I have a good friend that decided not to have any and even took measures to make sure accidents won't happen with his wife. I don't see him ever regretting it either. He is not a fan of kids.

This thread is proof a lot of parents are some of the most insufferable people on the planet though. They just annoyed the frick out of me with the "when are you going to have kids?" question and then as soon as my wife got pregant with our daughter we got the "how many are you going to have?" question. I have had some parents get pissed off that I only want one kid so I can continue my standard of living with minimal impact. They get all pissed off about the kid not having siblings and shite. I have siblings, it's not the best thing in the world and I hate dealing with mine.

I like when they say shite like "you will change your mind once your daughter is here." I like telling them that they clearly underestimate my level of stubbornness.

No doubt. I'd have tons more money if I didn't play golf or drink so much too.
