No but seriously, always carry pepper spray and wear little bells so the bears can hear you coming and you dont startle them.
Keep a situational awareness, look out for bear scat in the trail. You can tell the black bear sign from grizzly sign by the pepper smell, and little bells in the grizzly droppings.

A) Too small for a grizzly.
B) Bear spray is great for the surprise curious encounter. A charging bear? Youd'd rather have a firearm. But you also better be able to shoot that MFer dead under pressure.

Pepper spray won’t do shite to an angry grizzly. What you really need is a Smith and Wesson Model 500 revolver. One shot will down the bear, although it’ll still be moving. Second shot will end the grizzly instantly.

He probably killed her and will show up in a few days, distraught and lethargic. Will probably tell a skeptical story about a mythical fall or something and will later be convicted of murder. Or maybe they both decided to disappear or something.

I think you have to have run one Grizzly off with pepper spray that charged you and also shot another Kodiak multiple times that came at you to make a statement like this. There’s just no way you know. I don’t think RogerThe Shrubber can say he’s done both but you probably haven’t been in either scenario.
